    General sales manager

    Sales (Former Employee)

ProsCoworkers, some flexibility, synergy within the regions, work hard play hard mentality at the field level

ConsPolitics....too many chiefs, truly a company that rewards favorites versus talent.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't micromanage and create busy work just to make yourself look good to the executive leadership team. Trust your talented sales force. Please stop allowing marketing to control sales. Marketing does not contribute in a tangible way to the bottom line. Sales folks do...

Do what you are told. Your manager will tell you what that is.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsLocation is great. Pay is reasonable. Fun people. Fellow workers are all in the same boat.

ConsEgocentric culture. Everybody is watching out for themselves and their jobs.
There are good people in the trench and some in management as well. But they are powerless to make positive changes in the way management controls everything from behind closed doors.
Employee appreciation is all about PR for the company.
How Performance Plans are used by (most) managers is a joke at best. Do NOT be honest or you will be punished. Put down what you think your manager will want to hear so you have a better chance for a yearly increase.

Advice to Senior ManagementLet employees rate their managers performances and you may get a clue as to what the culture is really like.

    Cultural Nightmare

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Nashville, TN

ProsGreat people, occasionally allow flexible work from home. Plants are well run and safe.

ConsPeople are frequently punished for great job performance. Corporate culture is very cut throat. Talent management consists of who likes you, not how well you do your job which is destructive to the morale.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop being elitists. Get back in touch with your people! Put work/home life balance back on the list of values. Have a set standard that applies to everyone, not a good ole boy system of promotion.

Horrible Culture and Worthless HR Department - Bullying Encouraged!

    Senior Accountant (Former Employee)
    Nashville, TN

ProsThe opportunity to attend events at LP Field and Bridgestone Arena from the company suite.

ConsLP talks a big game. The literature suggests that the company is caring and compassionate and that they want to become an employer of choice through their honesty and integrity, however, when it comes down to it, they will stand by management no matter what and they have decided to let management rule - even if that means they are harassing to other coworkers and subordinates. The accounting department at the Nashville corporate office is corrupt and full of negative people. The culture is spoiled by politics and the environment is toxic to work in. On top of that the work hour expectations are 70-80 hours per week - and that IS NOT for a "limited" time or because of "special" circumstances like they claim.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to all employees and treat them fairly. No one has the right to treat any person with disrespect - even if it is LEGAL, the company should stand up to bullying and implement an official policy that they actually ENFORCE.

    Disappointing stint

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsGreat co-workers, smart and hard-working

ConsPoor managemenent that don't care about your career.

Advice to Senior ManagementJoining LP is a bad career move. You will feel like you're a senior nurse in an an old old peoples ward, sacrificing your skills for backwards technology and an unappreciative audience using old technology. It is only a matter of time until one day they figure they're done with the old ward and decide to close everything down, and you'll be out with skills
that are 20yrs out of date.

    Great place to work

    Coordinator (Current Employee)
    Nashville, TN

    ProsGreat benefits and work environment

ConsHard to transfer or promote to other departments unless you are a young twenty-something

Advice to Senior ManagementShould consider experience over a degree when promoting. Just because one has a degree does not mean they can do the job

Worst company I ever worked for

    Regional Manager (Current Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsGood products that do serve a purpose in the market

ConsManagement had no regard for the sales force. Would not listen to what they had to say. Would quickly throw long term customers and employees under the bus if they felt they would look good by bringing in some one new.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe CEO is actually a decent guy, but his VP's are not to be trusted.

    A great place to work.

Site Manager for Lockhart Al & Evergreen Al (Current Employee)
    Lockhart, AL

ProsTreated with dignity and respect by management. Given the chance to excel in your work. Given a fair wage. Special attention is given to safety, not just lip service. Your opinions and idea's are solicited and given sincere evaluations.

ConsIt can be dangerous work if safety rules are not followed.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease keep us going until the economy turns around.

ProsFriendly, laid back culture. Most everyone in the company has a can do attitude. IT group's small size means that there means that there is an opportunity to make a real impact.

ConsSenior management and the rest of the company doesn't place a high value on technology and IT. IT group as a whole is under resourced and over burdened. Salaries are below industry average.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn to view technology as a competitive advantage versus just a cost center.
