    Pros

Generous leave policy, solid benefits package, comfortable, attractive, centrally located facility with ample parking.

    Cons

Difficult to achieve professional goals via promotion; "old guard" firmly in place; not particularly women or family-friendly.

    Advice to Management

Do more to retain administrative and faculty talent instead of letting them leave for greener pastures. Invest in your greatest (human) resource.

    Cons

nothing I know of much but there won't be any position growth as fast as a private research company

    Pros

Very large Center with a large patient base with a lot going on. There are a lot of resources there and a lot of highly trained administrative people.

    Cons

The politics there is very thick. I had a lot of problems with a mid-level manager that was a terrible candidate for the important job she was in. She made it an intolerable environment which was impossible to work there.

    Advice to Management

Be very careful who you put in your management positions. Those who are power hungry usually abuse their power. They should be closely monitored and released when they do wrong to prevent the whole system from suffering.

    Pros

I enjoy what I do and I enjoy the people I work with. You already have parking if heading to the Superdome or the Arena

    Cons

Due to the budget cuts in the state, no raises in 5 years. We recently got a small raise, but no where near enough to put most of us where we should be.

    Advice to Management

Try to cut something to pay employees more.

    Cons

There are alot of people in management. Not really sure what they do all of the time.

    Pros

Facilities have been upgraded but insufficient operating support to maintain/staff them long-term

    Cons

Constant pressure of state mandated budget cuts and hiring freezes; state administration not fully committed to hire education

    Advice to Management

Invest in people and infrastructure; extract a better deal from next governor

    Pros

For the size, the university as all research instrumentation available and the schools are run independently.

    Cons

With the state budget running low and the 2+ year hiring freeze in place made for some rough times. Parking is an issue as with all hospitals, employee parking is shuttle run. Located in a rough part of the city.
