I have been working at Love's Country Stores full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

This company offers great chances to move up in the company. They treat their employees great. Cashiers earn bonuses every quarter for ensuring that we as a team offer great experiences for our customers which is shown through mystery shops and also ensuring we keep a hold on loss prevention. You get rewarded for your hard work and efforts on the job.

    Cons

I don't have any cons about this company.

I worked at Love's Country Stores full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

They do reward hard work eventually, just have to stay with it.

Mostly great people I worked with.

Company is getting bigger and stronger.

    Cons

Pay is average but the potential is great. Too bad you have to be there for seven years before you get money!! Really poor work to home life, as a manager you are expected to be on call 24/7 and spent hundreds of 18 plus hour days to make things run.

You are staffed with the absolute minimum of personnel so if someone quits, is fired, or doesn't show, then you are screwed!

Don't think this is bad company, it's not. They just have a lot of problems to workout and they are growing so fast and making so much money they don't care to change and unfortunately, their store level people suffer for it.

Also they promised a last pay check and I never got it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure you management team at the store level is happier, they are the ones who make this place run and succeed. Pay increase is always good but honestly you just need to stop overworking your employees.

Please hire and work more than the bare minimum. You have the money to do it and you employees would stay longer and be much more productive while they are there.

I worked at Love's Country Stores full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

3 days off when they would follow schedule.

    Cons

Never three days off. They would work you atleast one day on your day off. you would have to do hourly jobs when hired as a manager. After all said and done you would work 60 to 70 hours and cleaned showers toilets, changed tires and fried fries for less than your employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management needs to open their eyes and see that the district managers are working their employees over the 44 hours and hiding the schedules when they come around.

I worked at Love's Country Stores full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Health Benefits are very good, Very busy days never a dull moment in most locations with there always being something to do. Profit sharing if you make past 7 years.

    Cons

No work life balance. Expect to work 55-75hrs a week. Profit sharing program will bring people in the door but will not keep people there, Being in the service industry the manager position is confused with the 3 plus profit centers you have to manage with no depth of employee per shift hard to meet all demands and help customers. Overall lacking in technology, will get updates to a program or system only to see 10 new problems occur with the system, no forward thinking from IT, still on ancient audit system, No janitor/shower person most days meaning manager is cleaning bathrooms showers pumps picking up trash since that tech is working on tires

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at the profit share program or the pay of managers- younger college grads will never stick around with the hours and low pay considering responsibility and hours that is expected. Most of them have large debt and can make more money today at other retailers working less. Spend some money on the older stores or don't keep them open. Hire a janitor/shower person for each shift so your cashiers can actually cashier, complete company programs and clean the store.

I worked at Love's Country Stores

    Pros

other than free drinks...NONE! There's just not a going on with Loves' other than maximum work for little to no appreciation or acknowledgment! They expect performance above and beyond the call for as little pay and recognition as they can shell out of the family bank account.

    Cons

Their rationalization for management issues brought to their attention (hiring incapable managers who are too young and inexperienced) is "we open 20 stores a year" ! Numerous lies were told to get employees on board (we're going to hire a Maintenance Tech) and then weren't followed up on! Uniforms took weeks to get while personal clothing was ruined with no reimbursement. Constant threats by an inexperienced manager: "You WILL be written up if... . Good ole' boy system where selective enforcement of rules was applied less to friends. No commitment at ANY level of management to employees success! You could and would be fired at any time without notice or warning!

I have been working at Love's Country Stores full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Pay rate isn't bad for what is advertised....they don't live up to it though....Potential profit sharing is amazing if you can make it 3-7 years.

    Cons

Recruited for 44-46 hour, 4 day work week.....Received 5 day 50-60 hour work week regularly. 24/7 so rotating shifts occur weekly in spite of their "pledge" for fair and consistent labor scheduling. They care much more for the hourly employee opinions than the welfare of their managers. Ask for a sick, personal, or vacation day and receive an extra work day the next week. Ridiculous....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop lying to recruits....maybe then you'll see a decrease in turnover????

I worked at Love's Country Stores full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Set schedule was a plus. Bonus for salaried managers in restaurant was attainable.

    Cons

Lack of salaried manager help was a challenge. Poor communication from upper management as to changes in policy and/or procedure. Too many bosses issuing edicts in how operation should run.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend money on field level staff and thin out the horde of upper level "executives" disconnected with the real world and how the units operate.
