I worked at Lowe's full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Benefits were good, paid time off, chance at quarterly bonuses, and a low stress job.

    Cons

Customers can be very rude, and your experience with the company can vary significantly from store to store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The training program needs improvement. There is a very low focus on training employees in sales techniques.

I worked at Lowe's part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

flexible hours, good company employee relations

    Cons

limited hours, too much investment in Top Stock= dead stock, money tied up. Some items out for weeks, other had a 3 years supply. Better Inventory Management, (my specialty )

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

staff all departments whenever store is open with at least one associate. Lost sales when no one in department.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great work environment. Knowledgeable management. My co-workers were all very friendly. They provided a generous lunch and break schedule.

    Cons

Pay was meager. Unless you were a manager and on a salary, there wasn't much of an opportunity to advance up the hourly pay rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more training. Provide a better pay scale for those uninterested in a management track.

I worked at Lowe's part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Offered health insurance deducted from pay bi weekly. Relaxed atmosphere with customers who are generally friendly.

    Cons

Management was poor at my store. The store manager would pull you off tasks assigned by department manager when there were plenty of other people in the store. Would not work with me on my availability to allow me to stop working til 11pm at night when i had classes at 8am the next morning but was available to work from 10:30a til 9:00p It was always a 5-11p shift.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Thank your employees more often. Actually get your hands dirty instead of standing over your employees while you watch.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Work is mainly indoors and out of the elements, pay has been very competitive and more than fair. Ability to move up through the employee ranks has been encouraged.

    Cons

The always changing work hours is a definite negative. Dealing with verbally abusive customers.Struggling to meet sales goals is stressful .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The ability to train lower level people more through classes, even optional classes would be a great asset for employees. It is so hard to train someone while at the same time assisting customers and dealing with daily goals for the store.
