    Good Company to work for

    Loss Prevention Manager (Current Employee)
    Birmingham, AL

ProsI like the team I work with. The company atmoshphere is fairly laid-back and if you are willing to work hard and relocate, you can find some really great opportunities.

ConsWorking the Corporate created schedule can be irritating sometimes. The corporate office is always changing rules or creating new ones

Advice to Senior ManagementStay consistant in how you manage. Things that were wrong yesterday needs to be wrong today.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Lowe's is an alright place to work for a college student.

    Customer Service Associate (Current Employee)
    Fultondale, AL

ProsYou are able to work around your school schedule.

ConsA lot can be demanded with no incentive to get things done. Lowe's is so focused on customer service and sales that they lose appreciation for their employees. You will be told to sell while also keeping the department in shape.
Management is good for the most part. Where I work the store manager is a pain, but assistant store managers are helpful for the most part they care.
Customers are the same as any other retail establishment. You will deal with some great customers and some really bad customers.
Lowe’s offers little to no training for new employees or current employees. If your coworkers are nice and knowledgeable you may learn about your department within a few weeks.

    Low wages, but some benefits.

    Sales Specialist (Current Employee)
    Birmingham, AL

ProsGood temporary work with some medical coverage.

ConsLow level work environment, work force with almost no social skills, sheeple management, and no real advancement. Typical WalMart, Home Depot business plan. Revolving door low wage environment with executive culture of self preservation.

Advice to Senior ManagementHome Depot just announced it is ending medical coverage for part timers and part timers are the bulk of the store work force. HP is following in WalMarts footsteps and Lowes probably won't be far behind. Lowe's has already ended nearly all incentives over the past few years and the exodus of most of the most productive personnel. What advice would they follow?

    Over promise, under deliver

    Installed Sales Coordinator (Current Employee)
    Birmingham, AL

ProsInside out of the weather(depending on the department.) Discount and chance to buy merch when it first goes on clearance.

ConsStore management is horrible. They love to brow beat all the employees. There is not respect from the csa's to management cause the managers want you to respect them and the title.

Advice to Senior Managementstop and think about resets and planograms before you implement them.

    Cashier (Former Employee)
    Gadsden, AL

ProsGreat co-workers, Really great head cashiers which made the job so much more enjoyable, decent pay, management was good in some areas, flexible working schedule,

ConsWhile department managers and head cashiers were really great, upper management had a few bad seeds but a few good ones thankfully

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to evaluate zone managers and terminate the bad ones and promote from within to fill the empty positions asap
