Head cashiers/ department managers need to treat their employees with more respect, and not treat them like they dont know what they are doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Lowe's part-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Better pay than other retailers. Good company with good benefits. Easy to climb the ladder.

    Cons

When business is slow(happens mostly in the Midwest due to a certain competitor located only here), part-timers can find their hours reduced to only 11 per week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire fewer part-timers so the current ones can get a decent amount of hours.

I worked at Lowe's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lowes offers good training and a safe work environment. You can easily day dream about a project for the house. About 1/2 the people that you work with are just great people . The employee discount at Christmas (only) is very good. As a full time person you will get every third weekend off. For retail Lowes offers a good schedule. You can learn about home improvement.

    Cons

At slower store's management can be very inexperienced. They need to stay in fast food. ( about 1/3 of the manager's are good) . Hourly employees do not get any extra compensation for working on a holiday.Lowes has the most outdated computer system in retail ,creates lots of stress and problems. Lowes does everything on the cheap. Break room is a horror story ! Some manager's are disrespectful to older employee

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend a little more and give better service to your customers

I worked at Lowe's part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Have the opportunity to work only weekends and the schedule's alternate every week.

    Cons

No training, upper management was rude and there was low morale from the existing employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to give more training to your employees. There were several people who started with me that were completely confused as to what to do because there was no guidance better yet general training on how to use the internal equipment.

I worked at Lowe's part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Fun team orientated environment. Enjoy different situations with customers in assisting their projects for the home. Pay is fair as long as you contribute to the company.

    Cons

Sometimes company training is more on the job. Management not always in line with employees. Hours can be to long on ones feet. Personal Growth can be difficult and favoritism can most times play a crucial part in advancing career.
