    Pros

The store that I work in is very customer oriented and we are also team oriented. We all try to help each other in every way we can to give the best customer service.

    Cons

The hours are all over the place. One week you have to be there at 5:30 am and the other week you have to close. It messes with your internal clock

    Pros

Team Spirit, Great Home Office, Great Customers, Good products and services. Hires great contractors ..many happy customers on installs. Great Customer Service Desk.

    Cons

Some team members are too new to the company and /or workforce to have great customer service skills...no program in place to deal with this problem. Older workers have to take up the slack....and some might have been hired at a higher wage.

    Advice to Management

Get out of the back office, take off the Blue Vest, and help every customer! Today's faucet purchase could be a future $5000 kitchen remodel!

    Pros

Helping people, co workers, getting to drive equipment, pretty much left alone for the most part, free lunches, long breaks

    Cons

Angry customers working every weekend, sometimes you work in a department on a Saturday by yourself during peak hours so it can get frustrating

    Advice to Management

    Value your employees more

    Pros

As a full time employee you are guarantee 39 hour a week.
The store is clean, the bathrooms are clean and the lunch room is clean.

    Cons

They promise you a weekend off once a month, I averaged 1 off every 8 weeks. I asked if I would work more than 3 nights a week they said very rarely when I interviewed. I closed 4 to 5 nights a week. When you interviewed they ask a lot of questions about how you would take care of the customer but the job requires a lot of lifting and going up and down ladders. (90% of my day was lifting and only 10% working with customers) They have a rotating schedule so every week you get a different day off, but they change the rotation without notice so it is hard to plan anything. They are usually short people so they work you hard to make up for the shortage of people.

    Advice to Management

Hire more employees. Honor the weekend off for the employee. Do not change the schedule rotation. Tell the truth upon hiring, if I am hired to work nights say so.

    Pros

Day off rotation. Allowed for a guaranteed weekend off every month. Quarterly Bonus structure is decent, but only worth the time if in management position.

    Cons

Work/life balance can be difficult. Late nights (store closes at 10pm year round). Staffing is some times a challenge and the hiring process takes way too long.

    Pros

starting pay was $17 an hour. Around here, that's pretty good. Human Resource Manager is helpful and friendly. You get to work the 40 hours scheduled.

    Cons

Our sales are tracked. This wouldn't be a problem but there are two specialists in our dept. Sales estimates are rewritten by others as their own. Onyx order estimates are used by others as their own and orders are rewritten in their name. Cannot talk to ASM. They think he is wonderful because he does so many special orders. Schedules are all over the place. You have to count on another regular worker to train you. Managers are hired from outside and they expect you to train them.

    Advice to Management

Be approachable and more hands on. Very few ASM's and SM really care about the workers. Maybe that is how Lowe's wants it. Upper management are like robots.

    Pros

Good pay, decent benefits, bonus potential at all levels

    Cons

Extremely outdated technology, poor training, poor customer service culture, substandard work at sub-contractor level

    Advice to Management

Upgrade your technology sooner than later and make it more user friendly; stop rushing people through training and make it more hands on; crosstrain all employees throughout the store; stop trying to fix problem systems and procedures by adding further complexity and oversight (look for root causes and correct them); commit to delivering better service, hold sub-contractors to higher standards.
