Current Employee – been working at Lowe's part-time
Pros – One pro is the people at the store that I work at. They are nice and friendly which helps.
Cons – There are a lot of cons. I am a cashier and it is very boring especially since it is always slow. Also, the training when you first start stinks. You don't get enough hands-on training. There is never enough support on the sales floor either. They never schedule enough associates in the departments and when you need carry out assistance no one ever comes. Plus they don't have a cart attendant on certain days because their too cheap to hire someone on the days that the full time attendant is off. Another con is how cheap the company is. We run out of supplies, the registers hardly function properly, and a lot of stuff we need to be successful just isn't there. They don't want to spend money on stuff like this.
Advice to Senior Management – Start investing more money into supplies that are needed for associates to be successful. Start scheduling adequately as well.

Current Employee – been working at Lowe's part-time for more than a year
Pros – Pros - Starting salary very generous.
Friendly coworkers.
Nice, big breakroom
Cookout every 60 days without an accident
Nice raise at 90 days and 1 year.
10% employee discount
Cons – Chronic understaffing
No appreciation from management
Store manager incompetent, 40% approval rating
haphazard, exhausting scheduling
no help, ever
Military discounts for ungrateful, demanding old jackasses every 2 minutes
Homeowners who don't know their butt from a hole in the ground
Abuse by hateful, classless customers
Advice to Senior Management – Stop giving the military discount except on Memorial day and Veterans day (like Home Depot does)
You're giving too much money away
Schedule at least one person per department for every shift. You are losing so much money by pissed off customers leaving because there is no one to help them.

Current Employee – been working at Lowe's full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Can't really think of any
Cons – Terrible pay, benefits have been scaled back drastically, arrogant management, promotions are based on whose buddies with who, no work/life balance whatsoever
Advice to Senior Management – Please stop acting like you are so much better than everyone else. We all work retail, it's not like you are in your dream job either.

Current Employee – been working at Lowe's full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – They pay competitive and hire the handicap
Cons – They don't care about their employees and play favorites
Advice to Senior Management – Recognize your people and stop promoting only the the people that suck up to the store managers. Stop mgrs and demote or terminate them for killing a stores moral, sales and profit. Ask your associates what's really going on.

Former Employee – worked at Lowe's part-time for less than a year
Pros – • It was a job. It paid the bills
• Met a few cool people that were fellow co-workers
• Employee Discount
• Can wear jeans and sneakers to work
Cons – • They worked me to the bone. I wanted full-time but they kept me as part-time, giving me 39 hours per week just so that I couldn’t have benefits or vacation.
• They are open on Easter which is ridiculous. I flat out told my manager that if he scheduled me I wasn’t coming in.
• Management is not approachable (at least in the Easton PA store). They sigh and give dirty looks when you try to ask anything.
• As a cashier, I have to call for coverage when I have to use the restroom. A few times, it took them 30+ minutes to send me coverage
• They made front end cashiers such as myself clean at the end of the night. We got stuck cleaning bathrooms and toilets. GROSS! If I wanted to clean toilets, I would have been a janitor. That wasn’t in my job description.
• They never let you out on time. They expect you to stay late after you’ve worked 8-9 hours.
• Discount was only 10% for employees when most companies offer 20%
• Concrete floor, which hurts your feet when you have to stand at register all day
Advice to Senior Management – • Care a little less about making money and more about your employees. You expect employees to be loyal to the company, yet don’t give the same in return.

Current Employee – been working at Lowe's full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Generally decent good people shop here, opportunity to meet diverse group of people, gives older applicants a chance to be hired,
Cons – Growth not based on work commitment but how one is friendly with superior, when an employee needs help they run in the other direction, management open to hear only positive, never any instructor learning its all e-learning/testing, employees feel threatened in some positions and will not properly, fully train adequately, all that's expected is not compensated and paid well, when at a register standing for hours its tough on the body.
Advice to Senior Management – Get better management skills. You can't have favorites when assigning work/schedules. Do not give your friends the opportunity for growth and leave the ethical hard working people at the bottom. Get a dictionary, look up the word fair and practice it. Train properly.

Current Employee – been working at Lowe's full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – benefits, cheap stocks, 401k, safe environment to work within, localized cook outs or meal catered for special recognition's .... but that's it.
Cons – High School environment with all the drama and back stabbing you find on kids tv. Upper management has their own agenda and won't promote people they aren't tight with. No upward mobility. Company is economically stagnant with a very poor business model and leadership from the top ~ trying to reinvent the wheel. Very little monetary incentive to prove your worth to the company now that spiffs are gone. Very poor morale. Over priced merchandise for what it is, coming from China. Gosh ~ I could go on and on .....
Advice to Senior Management – Remember its the little guy breaking their backs every day to make the company successful. True leadership doesn't come with a title, and people should receive equal opportunities to advance. Look at your pay structure ~ How wealthy do the top exec's need to be? How many over paid directors do you really need? If there isn't any room to advance, pay the lower ranks better so they can provide for their family's and offer stock bonuses to them too, just as you would to the upper ranks. Bring in more reasonably priced and higher quality merchandise. Provide real-time field training for merchandise we're selling. Stop bringing in people to fill management positions that worked for companies with a poor growth record or that went into bankruptcy ~ they mostly have no benefit for the growth of the company .... promote from within. And above all ~ read all of these reviews posted by unhappy employees!
