I have been working at Lowe's full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Fast paced, keeps you thinking, moving, and never seems to be boring or mundane. Generally great for management training and responsibility conditioning.

    Cons

Lots of walking, lots of standing around, so you're feet kinda hurt at the end of the day. Plus there's retail problems like ornery customers and employees, complainers, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some should be more involved like others are. Other than that, if you help them, they'll help you.

    I worked at Lowe's

    Pros

The training was decent, and I felt like I was able to aid most of the patrons that I came into contact with. Co-workers were fairly cheerful as well.

    Cons

Occasionally, I was responsible for doing things that I didn't feel adequately trained to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I have been working at Lowe's full-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule, work with good people, and have a different set of tasks to perform so the work is not overly repetitive for most positions.

    Cons

Upper management is mostly uncaring, manipulative, and displays poor leadership at this store (there are a few exceptions who are simply outstanding managers, but they are exceptions to the rule). Standing all day on concrete. Some customers are unreasonable, unappreciative, and/or outright rude.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tap in to the talent, experience, and strengths available in your employees instead of trying to suppress their feedback and desire to effect improvement. Instead of focusing solely on sales numbers recognize the actions which will improve employee morale, processes, etc., to make a better work environment. The sales will follow.

    I worked at Lowe's part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity for promotions, excellent co-workers. The company would also host events for their employees to attend involving food or activities. Challenges yourself and other employees to work safer and more efficiently. Also great training.

    Cons

There is a manager for each department, and I worked in receiving so I had to communicate with all of them plus my own manager. This led to many conflicts of how the job should have been done. Equipment would also be broken for months at a time before it would get fixed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to communicate more effectively between the departments so that the employees don't get yelled at for doing the wrong thing, when we were told to do it that way. Often times I would get blamed for something I didn't do which would lower my moral since I couldn't argue my case. Listen to your employees.
