    I worked at Lowe's full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great managers and awesome coworkers. Company really tries to get the employees opinions and bonuses are mostly fair.

    Cons

The customers are allowed to be horrible to customers and management is not allowed to do anything about it because all they end up doing is complaining to corporate and the entire store gets in trouble. Rotating schedules are hell and made childcare twice as expensive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Support your employees, say thank you. But mostly keep up the good work. I truly enjoyed working for the people that I worked for

  5. Lowe's

    I worked at Lowe's

    Pros

Layed back staff with a nice work environment, pretty good with hours, and its pretty clean for a home improvement store

    Cons

Hard to advance with in the company, they like to hire from out side a lot. The fact that there's a catch when trying collect on your stock options earned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Success should be shared and not held on to. Give more than just the average "with hard work and determination speech".

  6. Leadership is lacking at times but overall a good experience. Hard work is rewarded.

I have been working at Lowe's

    Pros

    decent pay for retail
The work is not very hard

    Cons

Management needs to hold themselves to the standard they enforce, as well as lead from the front.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership is an opportunity to serve. It is not a trumpet call to self-importance.

    I worked at Lowe's full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

They do care about their people and they listen to ideas and employee input. They have HR in all stores and they do try to do the right thing and be fair. If you are willing to work hard and show up for work there is good opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

They allow shoplifters to steal from the company with very little prosecution. A manager has to call a district loss prevention manager if the police can be called. This wears on employees as they watch profits walk out the door.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have your Loss prevention make stops and have the thieves sign restitution papers or be prosecuted. Stop contributing to the underworld by having such a passive approach to stealing.

I have been working at Lowe's part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

An adamant management team that actually cares to improve employee opinion of the company/workplace. Basic benefits for not only full-time but also part-time employees including a stock purchase program after one year of employment.

    Cons

It is easy to get stuck in a position if the experience gained from it is not valuable to positions that most would consider a step up in the ladder. You may need to side step or step down before you can progress. Most positions have varying schedules

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Corporate middle management needs to stop making micromanaging decisions that effect specific departments in a store. Often contradictory information is given and time is wasted making changes for decisions that other managers overturn. Employee suggestions should not be written of with the idea that "a policy is already in place" on the subject, so that is the final consideration.

I have been working at Lowe's

    Pros

Lowe's is a great place to work for as far as retail is concerned. Pay is decent and you always have opportunities to learn something new.

    Cons

They expect a lot from you, and sometimes the workload can be very overwhelming. If you are good at your job, they expect you to do more than your share.
