I worked at Lower Manhattan Cultural Council

    Pros

Friendly, fun team atmosphere. Everyone really invested in enlivening the cultural landscape of downtown. Perk: tons of great events like open studios, public performances, concerts, etc. Sure you are working, but what an experience!

    Cons

As a non-profit, funds must be secured on an annual basis for operations and programs so a lot of attention on fundraising. Open office setup is a challenge.

I worked at Lower Manhattan Cultural Council as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Staff is there to help artists, they are competent, motivated, and ambitious. Working towards great expansion, and are making wonderful strides. Fantastic arts organization to work for!

    Cons

Interns are on stipend. Not much of a program between departments to learn about organization as a whole, but after time you can get involved in lots of ways, just takes a while to get there.

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook
