The talent makes the company what it is.

ProsFrom my experience at Lucasfilm, you cannot find a better group of smart and talented group of individuals. The connections you build there are very genuine and you can tell the people love what they do and are whole heartedly invested in the projects they are working on.

ConsFor the most part, the management will not acknowledge you or the work you do unless you can bring them awards. It's sad, the only recognition comes in the form of the artists and little attention is paid to those in other areas of the organization. With that being said, there is little to no growth potential within the company and salaries tend to be on the low end of the spectrum. Since Disney took over, I know many people who have been laid-off and I understand its just not the same company to work for anymore.

I learned more about what it takes to run a company, much less a film company, at Lucasfilm.

    Operations Assistant (Former Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsThe people are friendly, the surroundings were comfortable, the amenities are first class, compensation was fair, as were the benefits. Outstanding Christmas gifts!

ConsUpper management was a bit distant, and not communicable. Unfocused direction in certain departments. Recognition and promotion were rather difficult to achieve. Inflexibility with exploring new avenues of revenue and company growth.

Advice to Senior ManagementLess politics, more communication. Recognition of lower management and the "grunts" for maintaining day to day unglamorous tasks.

ProsBrand was fun- some of the people were great and friendly. Most of who are no longer there.

ConsUpper management always giving confusing and unclear direction. No sense of "team" - my experience was everyone wanted their own glory.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunicate- support your employees - work as a team for the better of the company.

    Lucas Film Terminates injured workers!

    Engineer (Former Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

Proslearn how to be vindictive toward good people making a living.

Consthey will fire you for being sick and using your sick days. I was injured and my supervisor wrote me up for using my sick days. I was given poor marks during my treatment then was terminated. once an amzing place.. what happened? it wasnt Disney.. its been messed up for years about the time film people stopped running the company and the lawyers and HR took over.. true story soon to be a movie.

Advice to Senior Managementweed out the horried people HR dept!

    Hollywood, NorCal style

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsEnvironment, work, exposure to projects. We produce some awesome stuff, and being part of that can be very rewarding/fulfilling.

ConsJob opportunities are there, but they're hard to get and take a lot of time (for most people).

Advice to Senior ManagementYou already have a lot of hired talent. Look within to develop current employees, rather than trying to find everything outside.

Also, communicate more clearly. I feel like most of what we're told is fluff. However, that being said, I will say there has been a notable increase in communication and efforts around it, so that is much appreciated.
