I have been working at Lufthansa full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You get excellent benefits if you are keen on travelling, good work/life balance.

    Cons

Very difficult to go up the career ladder due to limited prospects. This is an industry you go to work if you are passionate about travelling but not to earn a lot of money.

I have been working at Lufthansa full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - strong brand which is recognized all over the world, employees identify themselves with the 'crane'
    - great safety culture, aircraft are well maintained
    - diverse job families within the corporation and possibilities to change jobs between companies
    - good benefits, but they are becoming more and more limited

    Cons

    - Corporate culture is too "German"
    - too much time goes by before decisions are made due to the need for general consent for every decision
    - cost measures are often questionable, lots of opportunities for cost-savings go by because they are not pushed enough
    - only few international managers or employees from different industries in headquarters
    - not innovative and cost-effective enough to withstand emerging competitors
    - limited career development possibilities for women (on paper yes, but not in real life)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lufthansa has to become more diverse to stay attractive as an employer. Management has communicate more effectively to get employees to stand behind their strategy.

I worked at Lufthansa full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

very good training programs, "Lufthansa family" feel with the colleagues, good flying benefits, especially for the staff based in Germany

    Cons

Very poor pay, therefore a big turnover. The discounted tickets are quite challenging to use, as they are on a stand by basis. Once you are a passenger, the flight personnel give you hard times by trying to discriminate you. It really does happen a lot!

Former Employee - Customer Service Consultant in Dublin, Dublin (Ireland)

I worked at Lufthansa full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-Just the fact that you put the name Lufthansa in your cv, that is enough to get an answer from your next application. This is a fact.

-Great friendly, multinational environment. Cool and VERY organized managment.
(The appriciation comes only when you quit unfortunatelly)

-What about the TRAVEL Benefits... speachless

Great experience and very thankfull for the general knowledge I gained which I can apply not only to the airline industry, but also to all types of customer service opportunities.
    *mastered the Structure of call

    Cons

*all this system knowledge stays helpful only internally. You can only carry with you the general knowledge of a quality customer service and general info about the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would recommend that all the agents would answer apart from calls and emails in order to avoid having a monotonous day at work. High volume of calls definately affects a lot the quality of the service. Similar type of companies have a system that combines calls & emails which keeps the employees happy with a clear mind for better service.
The companies´quick response by email is the future nowadays than the 20´min calls on hold which cost a fortune to the customers.

I worked at Lufthansa full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Amazing flight benefits
    Very friendly envionment
Good opportunity to learn customer service skills
It's perfect if you want to get some experience in a multinational and enjoy travelling around the world

    Cons

Salary is very low, almost minimum wage
You're treated like a slave (management has no interest in giving you a good work/life balance, if you need time off you have to beg and it's never confirmed until the last minute; if you leave your desk to go to the toilet/canteen, there's a 'timer' and at the end of the month you get a small bonus if you haven't left your desk for too long!!!)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management has to start respecting his employees

    Pros

    co-workers from team
    cheap tickets
    international enviroment
nothing else can´t be positive on this job - the worst experience in my entire life

    Cons

    work enviroment
disrespect every employee as living human beings
    low salary
management, which can not make one good decision
    almost like a jail

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire yourself or try to understand the needs of your employees, as they are making money, not you.
Management should try to work with agents at least for a week or two to understand their needs
