    Pros

decent wage, benefits package, conveniently located in Austin

    Cons

Very cliquish, cut-throat and lacking in loyalty. If you're one of the boys, you're in but if you're not, watch your back.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Top heavy in VP's and directors with little to show for their bloated paychecks.

    I worked at Luminex

    Pros

I worked for Luminex for over 8 years and during my tenure, I was mentored up and given great opportunity to advance my career and lead. I found management supportive, interested in my career development, and respectful. The technology is sound, the quality of scientist is exceptional!

    Cons

There was quite a bit of reorganization, and re-prioritization, which can be frustrating to some. However, this also always presented new opportunities for employees who asked, and in which the management saw potential.

I have been working at Luminex full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great Opportunity to wear many different hats and acquire on the job training. The company cares about its employees and their families. There are a lot of opportunities to stretch your skills, you just need to be self motivated enough to seek them out. Company values self starters.

    Cons

The company is still rather young and in the process of trying to decide what it wants to be when it grows up. This seems to create an environment of consistently changing priorities which can be somewhat frustrating.

I worked at Luminex as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Positive working environment, push you explain why experimental results are what they are instead of accepting failure/success.

    Cons

I worked for an entire summer, but I never got an answer regarding future employment despite my great reviews from my Boss and team members.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For an intern the only thing on their mind is if they have job at the end of internship. I would recommend that Management keep that in mind when they hire.

    Pros

Good exposure to highly relevant technology. Mostly good people to work with. Company builds products that can really have an influence in the world.

    Cons

Relatively young company going through growing pains. Middle management with some inexperienced leaders. Many employees that have risen through the company lack experience from other companies often limiting ideas to variations of what is already known. Some resistance to change regardless of the evident benefits.
