Current Employee – been working at Lutron full-time
Pros – This company has been on the forefront of it's markets for a very long time and produces very good products. They are dedicated to innovation and it is built on a very solid foundation. The culture among employees is as friendly as you would expect in the small headquarters town.
Cons – For all of its history and statements about taking care of the customer, the company struggles to admit the viability of negative customer opinions and effectively address the issues that form them.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Lutron full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Average salary with decent benefits. Middle of the way for what is offered. Excellent profit sharing when times are good. Use the 401k match as it will grow.
Above average capability of people. You learn a lot very quickly. Everybody is willing to help and that is a great culture to work in.
Cons – Top heavy. Employees are not valued for their overall contribution but for their isolated contributions.
Long hours at times. Have had to put in long hours at times, and seen others put in even longer hours.
There is very little diversity. When I started it was minuscule, but it improved a little over time.
The biggest problem is the area, small industrial town in white america. Philly and NY are close, but not for a daily commute.
Advice to Senior Management – Use people to the best of their abilities.
Do not freeze pay and then promote everybody in upper management.
Have clear coordinated direction.

Current Employee – been working at Lutron as an intern for less than a year
Pros – They give you tremendous responsibility as an intern.
You will earn a lot very quickly
Very knowledgeable co-workers
Great pay for interns
Subsidized fully furnished housing located close to work
Cons – Location, there's not much to do in Coopersburg. NY and Philly are not too far away though.
They don't have too many interns during the Spring and Fall.
No 401k or paid vacation for interns

Current Employee – been working at Lutron full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Innovative company producing some truly great products.
Opportunity to move within the company and take on roles and responsibilities outside what you would be able to do with a larger company
Cons – Can be frustrating at lack of direction of the overall strategy. Lots of unrealised potential.
HR structure is vague and unclear to employees
Advice to Senior Management – Clarify HR expectations, identify a strategy and stick with it.

Current Employee – been working at Lutron full-time for less than a year
Pros – Great company to start with, New hires are given a lot of technical work and a lot of technical help is available on projects. Every new hire is also urged to do some managerial work. all this applies to new hires who work in engineering.
Cons – Some experienced engineers can be nosy and annoying,
There is total chaos a lot of times.
There is a lack of industrial education seminars that would impart knowledge on the latest and greatest out there.
A lot of the classes that are taught to new hires by senior engineers are not well taught and boring. There arent many opportunities to ask questions
Advice to Senior Management – Please bring in some more faculty from the local area to teach classes which shouldnt last more than 2 hours. A class that lasts a whole day doesnt teach you anything very effectively

Former Employee – worked at Lutron as a contractor for more than a year
Pros – People are driven and mostly technically competitive and many who work here are loyal employees who have been around for 10+ years. The experienced engineers and technicians really know their stuff well since the company only deal with a very specific niche market.
Cons – * In a rather rural setting, if that's something that bothers you.
* Not everybody is a genius and apparently some people are just getting by - follow the rules, go get lunch, eat alone, follow more rules
Advice to Senior Management – NA
