I worked at Luxottica part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Sales contests and flexible hours for classes or other responsibilities. Reasonable goals and management.

    Cons

At times, the management makes the selling on the retail floor out to be a used car lot feel, they forget its ok to have a personality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Any unofficial sales being processed are because store managers are telling their lower staff to go ahead with order, or saying its been approved.

My experience working for Sunglass Hu, an entity of Luxottica, was eye-opening.

Former Employee - Sunglass Hut Store Manager in Charlotte, NC
Former Employee - Sunglass Hut Store Manager in Charlotte, NC

I worked at Luxottica full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The only positive thing I can say about my experience personally would be a generous discount on merchandise.

    Cons

Sexual harassment, unattainable sales goals, extremely high pressure to perform, inappropriate corporate retreats, senior management in North Carolina region will at the very least make you uncomfortable if you are a woman. The first week I was hired I was required to attend a company weekend retreat at a lake house. My district manager came into my room unannounced in the evening in his boxers and a t-shirt. On days I had low sales I was told there was a direct correlation between my low sales and not wearing the right amount of makeup or fixing my hair well enough on that day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more aware of who you hire, increase company morale which seems to be non-existent in some areas. I was paid a meager $10.60 per hour as a manager, seriously who can afford to live off of this?

I have been working at Luxottica part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

After a year with the company you get a 500 dollar certificate towards sunglasses or eyeglasses.

    Cons

The shifts are only 3-4 hours, they don't reimburse for gas during the meetings, single coverage shifts, not a reliable income, managers want you to work around there time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on having this company be more prospering.

I worked at Luxottica part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It was enjoyable learning about the products, interacting with customers, and earning extra income when sales plan were over our goals. Managers and coworkers I worked with most of the time were great too. Incentives are always running for associates, such as earning points for a merchandise rewards program, etc.

    Cons

Starting pay is low, and have worked with managers that have been hit or miss when it comes to organization, treatment of employees, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve loss prevention. Real or false security tags on the merchandise would be one way to prevent theft.

I worked at Luxottica full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

benefits are good, pay is reasonable

    Cons

can not advance very fast. If you are good at a job it is hard to go to something else. They will keep you at the position you are good at. Was told by a supervisor and a trainer that I would be at the position I was at (was good at it) until I died or quit. Not very encouraging.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to the desires for employees to advance. I know it is a business and management is focused on making the company profitable and getting the biggest production amount out of it's employees, but consider that a "happy" employee is a "productive" employee. Not to mention a loyal employee.

I have been working at Luxottica full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

It's a company that wants to be a better company. It understands that it is a company that should value people, and is still trying to figure out how.

    Cons

Lower than average benefits, much higher than average politics for a manufacturing company since it is dominated by the Retail organization within North America. .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate people more for their contributions, not their ability to network and hobnob. Allow and yes, even embrace! dissenting views.
