    Pros

Always there to answer questions and help find solutions. Great managers and team members. Tons of chances to grow within the company. Great promotions and I love that they each associate is able to feel like they really make a difference at the store.

    Cons

Some what nit picky at times. Need better training for regular employees not just managers. With few employees it can be hard to get time off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more training sessions with associates.

I worked at Luxottica full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There is a lot to learn and most of it is fun. Fun meetings and fun employees plus a 500$ certificate at the end of each anniversary year.

    Cons

Most shifts are single coverage (if you're a small store like I was). That gets pretty boring. Theft was a major problem yet all product was constantly left out. Had unrealistic standards about goals and money to be made.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get realistic about the theft issue! Also be up front about how much money we are actually making.

    Pros

Fun environment, employees are full of energy, keeps you busy, learn something new every day, great experience with customers

    Cons

They don't pay well. Every time you ask for your pay raise they say that you will get it soon but never does. Their health insurance is very bad

Former Employee - Sunglass Hut - Sales Associate in Northbrook, IL

I worked at Luxottica part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - 1 Free pair of sunglasses every year up to $500
    - good flexible hours if you're in school
    - cool co workers

    Cons

    - minimum wage
    - managers receive a total of 80 hours to give out. They get 40, the other 40hrs are split between 3-7 employees resulting in 3-8hr shifts a week.
    - upper management don't care about you
    - turnover rate is high
    - lots of theft you have to watch out for
    - each store seems to create their own return policy
    - ridiculous paperwork upper management require you to do even though all the information is already in system.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Promote within, stop hiring newcomers who have no idea how to manage, or do their job, and ask part timers how to run the store.
    2. Instead of hiring a whole bunch of part timers and giving them such a pathetic amount of hours, hire a very few employees who are always available and build a relationship with them.
    3. Get rid of the useless paperwork, it's a waste of time and employees should focus more on cleaning and customer service.

    Pros

    Discounts and good working environment.

    Cons

They keep you in part time for as long as they can even if there is room for growth they would rather hire some more part timers than give you more hours. Also long hours standing up, even if there is not a single customer in the store all night they will not allow you to sit down or even lean on anything.

I worked at Luxottica part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Sales contests and flexible hours for classes or other responsibilities. Reasonable goals and management.

    Cons

At times, the management makes the selling on the retail floor out to be a used car lot feel, they forget its ok to have a personality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Any unofficial sales being processed are because store managers are telling their lower staff to go ahead with order, or saying its been approved.

My experience working for Sunglass Hu, an entity of Luxottica, was eye-opening.

Former Employee - Sunglass Hut Store Manager in Charlotte, NC
Former Employee - Sunglass Hut Store Manager in Charlotte, NC

I worked at Luxottica full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The only positive thing I can say about my experience personally would be a generous discount on merchandise.

    Cons

Sexual harassment, unattainable sales goals, extremely high pressure to perform, inappropriate corporate retreats, senior management in North Carolina region will at the very least make you uncomfortable if you are a woman. The first week I was hired I was required to attend a company weekend retreat at a lake house. My district manager came into my room unannounced in the evening in his boxers and a t-shirt. On days I had low sales I was told there was a direct correlation between my low sales and not wearing the right amount of makeup or fixing my hair well enough on that day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more aware of who you hire, increase company morale which seems to be non-existent in some areas. I was paid a meager $10.60 per hour as a manager, seriously who can afford to live off of this?
