I have been working at M-I SWACO full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The money was great. The company that contracted MI Swaco were fabulous. They always provided us with plenty of food and water.

    Cons

I had two kidney stones in two months and my grandfather died several months later. I was told that I was not going to get large jobs for a while because I wasn't dependable. Mind you I had two kidney stones because of the heat and the fact that I would have to rig up and down by myself. When I did get a long job, I went to pick up the trailer at five in the morning and upon inspection, realized the lights on the trailer were defective. I was faced with driving and getting a ticket or getting to the job sight late. The manager did not answer his phone. He lived in an area that did nod get good cell reception. I left him a voicemail telling him he needed to pick up his damn phone and was fired the same day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When someone is fired, it would be nice if you talked to the fired person. i filed for unemployment and got it because management did not even return the phone call from the unemployment headquarters.

I have been working at M-I SWACO full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Get a free truck and get to drive it on personal time with a gas card
start and end your day when you want
    make your own hours

    Cons

    There is no growth.
There is no management to depend on for answers
Very little experience in the field as far as co workers
Schlumberger polices are a joke and make it harder everyday to do your job
Pay scale is ok but very low on being competitive with other companies
They say you will get quarterly bonus but never know when we make it or not

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out from under schlumberger and learn how too manage what you have now to keep the little business that we do have

The compensation is extremely low-end for Alaska. If you don't believe it, do some research.

I worked at M-I SWACO full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great employees and fair local M-I management. Schlumberger management needs a reality check.

    Cons

It seems that Schlumberger is purposely trying to ruin this company. Had to often work 3 weeks straight to sustain an income that would support my family.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A real retention plan with real reasonable means of achieving set training goals would save this company. SLB needs to let M-I SWACO manage themselves.

Depending on the Department, there is great learning opportunities including classes to become IFE and IWA certified. Friendly and professional environment.

    Cons

Schlumberger is a service company not an operator.

I worked at M-I SWACO full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some of the field employees are fun to work with, committed to working safely and developing other employees.

    Cons

Don't expect to make a great wage, or expect to receive anything more for working hard. The laziest employees don't get fired, they get moved from one job to the next to become someone else's problem.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit adding more obstacles to employee advancement and compensate them for the value they add to the company. Many of them feel used and cheated while SLB does nothing to promote better wages and they try to discredit anyone who speaks against their short-sighted business strategies.

I have been working at M-I SWACO full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The schlumberger benefits are great. Insurance was the best I ever had. Awesome att phone discount available to employees 23%.

    Cons

Hours and locations are terrible. They act like any time off is a personal favor. No order to the chaos. Management is very combative they want control over your whole life even where you stay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your underlings as human beings for a start.

I have been working at M-I SWACO

    Pros

The pay is good when hours are available. There is an opportunity to drive a company vehicle in most cases. There is flexibility in most positions.

    Cons

Small opportunity for growth and development. Oilfield service companies work the same hours as the oilfield, all day every day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase opportunities for training and moving up the ladder for employees that earn it.
