    I worked at MAC Cosmetics

    Pros

Lots of training and you get new products every month

    Cons

You feel either over staffed(can't make your numbers too many people)or under staffed(can't make good ipt numbers because you're hustling from person to person)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change is good but too much change and MAC will no longer be the company everyone wants to work at..you will be just like Lancôme,Lauder,Clinique

Former Employee - MAC MUA in New York, NY

I worked at MAC Cosmetics part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Co-workers were awesome!
    Received free products
    Lots of fun theme-filled events

    Cons

You have to make $2000 daily (first floor)
Co-workers were in the same position for several years (barely any black people in management roles)
They're not very flexible with students or people with second jobs
Pay...it's high for retail but I got paid more as a freelancer for mac than as a permanent MUA..3% commission doesn't really add much unless you're pulling in very high sales weekly

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to give more people the chance to advance into the leadership roles, not just white girls. Also, try to be a bit more flexible with your employees.

    Current Employee - Resident Trainer
    Current Employee - Resident Trainer

I have been working at MAC Cosmetics

    Pros

Working with talented artists, Trainers, Resident Trainers, etc. Creating your own schedule. Mentorships. Facilitating. Travelling. Meeting Senior Artists. Friendship. Working with customers.

    Cons

Nasty-Nice attitudes of upper management. Work-Life balance almost non-existent unless you want to fall behind. Constant last-minute deadlines. The idea that the company supports individuality, yet challenges it's execs to conform to a certain behavior, dress, etc. The compensation doesn't match with the amount of work done. Kiss-ups seemingly move up faster than those who are hard-working and dedicated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your execs and managers with the same respect you would hope to have. We are not children at this level. Watch your tone when giving feedback, especially when you're giving feedback on us watching our own tones. Be upfront and not so cryptic. Check in on us to see how we are doing.
