    Positive Outlook

I worked at MANDARIN ORIENTAL, WASHINGTON, DC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get paid an additional eight hours on your birthday and anniversary of being at the hotel. Health and dental insurance. Uniforms provided by and cleaned by the hotel.

    Cons

Bad parking. HR department unreliable. Cafeteria is terrible.

    Advice to Management

The HR department is a joke; the turnover in the department is high, no one gets back to you when they say they will.

Sometimes its who you know, you get promoted. Not by the work you do.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to all employees. Especially the ones who do their work diligently, not looking for recognition or acknowledgement. It doesn't mean they are weak.

    Pros

Emphasis on Culture, they pay pretty well so that's a plus but not the most friendly people in HR

    Cons

UNION! hard work in high end hotel, and people can be rude to each other but never to customers so that's good

    Advice to Management

simply be more friendly and say hi to people in the hallway. mgmt seems very snobby
