I have been working at MAXIMUS

    Pros

Maximus provides good services to people so the product is a good one. Benefits are about average for typical large companies, not as good as the richer high tech companies. Managers seem to allow employee flexibility.

    Cons

Upper management seems to be not very competent, not concerned enough with the day to day functions of employees. Salaries are somewhat fixed within the context of the corporate structure, not much flexibility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to quality and the competencies of the employees

I have been working at MAXIMUS full-time

    Pros

Coworkers are fun and helpful. Most managers are professional and knowledgable. Just recently, senior managers made a change in the right direction to increase morale.

    Cons

Lately, contractors are being hired without any experience or education. Morale has been low because of this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Read the company ethics policy. Hire people based on skills and education or your staff will never respect you or your managers.

    Pros

Great benefits and employer-match on 401k contributions, clear expectations, lots of paid holidays and a decent amount of (accrued) paid time off.

    Cons

Favoritism, lack of disciplinary action taken for arriving late, taking extended breaks, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Unify on policies and then stand by them.

I worked at MAXIMUS full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Fulltime hours that are suitable. Clean office environment. Inclement weather line available. Observation of Holidays. Place where friends are encouraged to apply. The more friends the better.

    Cons

Good Leadership does not exist. Time management does not exist. Streamlining does not exist. Office buracracy at its best to include obvious cliques and micro managing is unbelievable. Ethics training should be mandatory for all employees including managment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Build a team and eliminate losing moral by unifying employees and leadership. Encourage cross training while keeping up to date with changes. Mandatory ethics training monthly for supervisors. Supervisor evaluations should be conducted by employees monthly.

workforce; due to many layoffs it suffered, many are demoralized. also that results disconnected teams.

    I worked at MAXIMUS

    Pros

I really enjoyed the beautiful building, the free coffee, helping those in need, providing exceptional customer service, and having easy access to HR.

    Cons

I had no access to easily speak to my supervisor, hardly any breaks, and the company lays people off too often with little reason.

Current Employee - Bilingual Customer Service Representative in Rancho Cordova, CA

I have been working at MAXIMUS full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Easy to get hired if bilingual
Gets foot in door for customer service
    steady 8-5 schedule
no skill required what so ever

    Cons

you become a robot after the first 4 months
the medi cal beneficiaries you speak to aren't the nicest
pay is terrible, minimum wage for being bilingual
because turn over rate is so high management see's you as just another csr

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

treat the CSR's like you treat the bene's
its a stressful job, maybe the turnover rate wouldnt be as high if you properly compensated the CSR's, bilingual people get paid the same as english only speakers, what sense does that make?
dont expect unrealistic average handle times with the ridiculously faulty and slow systems you have the CSR's use.
