    I worked at MAXIMUS (More than a year)

    Pros

    They did pay very well, but with this company I helped a lot of people with government benefits and brightened there day.

    Cons

    Some dislikes about working here was due to the management not being in sync with other management.

    Advice to Management

    They need to get there management in sync.

    I have been working at MAXIMUS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    High-growth company, opportunities for exposure to executive leadership, interesting to see the intersection of policy and the real world. Most positions require helping others in some way.

    Cons

    C-suite is the definition of 'old boys club' - white, male, grey hair across the board (current leadership has done a great job shepherding the company through strong growth, however). No clear org structure and thus very difficult to advance past a certain level in the company, even though more executive-level personnel due to company's growth. No real attempt to develop bench organically. Sometimes it seems HR policies are intentionally left murky to make it hard for personnel to have full information available to them.

    Advice to Management

    Encourage organic human capital growth. Do a better job of retaining young talent and recruit more of it. It seems to be that young people today, who generally are unsatisfied with what they see as options in the political sphere, but who are also very keen to help others (ie., health and human services) would love to work for a company like this.

    Pros

    Broad experience and responsibility. Worked with a lot of great people hat were individual contributors and ones who became managers.

    Cons

    Expensive health insurance coverage and below market pay with little room to grow compensation after hire. Overworked and underpaid.

    -40 hours per week -Benefits -Health, vision, dental insurance -Stability -In door restaurant -Own locker -Proper break/lunch facilities -Open working environment

    Cons

    The 30 minute lunch seems to keep you wanting more time. The system unfortunately is badly thought out and training is needed leaving just regular csr with unnecessary stress.

    Advice to Management

    The system that is worked with needs a lot of updates.

    Pros

    The projects are generally geared towards helping the community and that is great. Your working on forming effective changes for policies and have hands on experience on what works. Great company to gain experience when your dedicated to advancing in specific field.

    Cons

    It is contract based so your job is at risk every contract renewal period. Some management is unprofessional. The pay is unreasonable for certain positions considering the amount of work & stress involved.

    Lots of room for growth within the company. Laid back environment. Great co-workers and supervisors.

    Cons

    Everything is timed by the second. Lots of micromanaging.

    Pros

    Some flexibility with schedule depending on who your supervisor is.

    Cons

    As employees leave positions are not being refilled. Employees are expected to absorb others workload without raises. Bonuses are being cut.

    Advice to Management

    Do more to help employee morale. Seeing long time employees leave and expecting others to do additional work is not good for morale.

    Pros

    Direct supervisors were as helpful as they could be given a lack of information from the top. Great co-workers.

    Cons

    Communication was lacking from the top - down. No real incentive to try and move up in the company.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to employees' concerns and ideas as they are the ones dealing with and handling issues first-hand.
