I worked at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

great colleagues, excellent benefits, active effort to make employees happy by upper management

    Cons

middle management likes the status quo, garage parking is costly, work can be emotionally draining if you deal with patients

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

pay more attention to the emotional toll the work can take on employees from seeing so many sick patients, develop a program to deal with this besides employee assistance, which is worthless.

I worked at MD Anderson Cancer Center as an intern (more than a year)

    Pros

    Great community
    HR is awesome!
    Amazing coworkers!

    Cons

Parking is awful. The commute to the Texas Medical Center in itself its crazy though, so it really is not a huge concern.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While working as an intern, I would have loved to have the opportunity to meet more people other than the office staff. I think providing these networking opportunities to students will bring them back when they graduate!

I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are worthwhile, time off is reasonable, and opportunities are endless if you know the right people.

    Cons

Management isn't supportive, their expectations far outweigh what they are willing to pay and the office politics is far beyond what is necessary in a hospital for cancer patients.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more supportive. The people who do most of the work do know what is necessary to increase efficiency and if you want to succeed, I suggest you at least listen to feedback and give it some thought.
