I have been working at MEDCO full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I enjoyed the opportunity to help people in need of medical supplies who were struggling. It was very rewarding to provide solutions and face to face customer care to those who may not have been aware of their medical supply options under the current government systems, or who were unable to pay for medically necessary supplies without financial assistance.

    Cons

The job was not challenging, but the management and lack of respect for and from management made the job very daunting. There is a lot of nepotism going on and one must be careful to avoid getting caught up in office gossip or high school like drama. Most importantly, the lack of organization, specifically when it came to training was just unacceptable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In order to gain the respect of your employees, you need to be respectful. Furthermore, implement a concrete training plan for employees and get a trainer who is competent and not rude and unprofessional.

    Pros

Now they don't have all the benefits but the pay still good.

    Cons

Now is not so great to work at MEDCO. They are not interesting on long period experience employees, they prefer temporary or short period employees. They don't offer all the benefits they used to.

    Big Let Down

Former Employee - Population Health Statistician in Franklin Lakes, NJ

I worked at MEDCO full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Exposure to the most unique opportunities for improving PBM services, people's health, and learning more about disease, well being and improvement of health or quality of life in the U.S. Access Big Data is its potential.

    Cons

Lack of knowledge on how to use its data to implement change and make wise decisions is the downfall. Medco/Express Scripts is focused on self, not clients earnings, not the health of people. It's hard to believe that such a big company can really believe 'The sicker you are, the more we make'. Its work is spent mostly on market earnings and income predictions, and how to improve profits not client or patient successes, or how to make people healthier. Workers unwilling to share skills and knowledge. Very unethical. Reports to clients were statistically invalid and misleading; would not heed warnings about this and as a result lost 50% clients in one year just before going under. Managers never utilized employees to their fullest potential. Teamwork is absent and claims of it are a hoax. Managers don't allow for criticism or personal comments about this in your annual reviews. Managers aren't smart in the field, they just how to manage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of CEOs, Directors, VPs and find medically trained managers who have health care quality in mind, not their retirement accounts. Find leaders who have knowledge and experience in the field and stop hiring outside managers who couldn't tell a bioengineered drug from a 50 year old generic, except by price. Develop a way to use employee's potential.

I worked at MEDCO full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

A Monday thru Friday job with regular business hours. Not very common in the Wholesale/Retail Business today. Most locations (8 in total) have fair to good managers. Makes employment fun.

    Cons

Bad apples in Upper Management Chain need to be and should be addressed. Operations is the back bone of most companies and Medco treats Operations just like most companies, like the unwanted child! The majority of your employees are truthful and honest and you treat them as if they are replaceable at the drop of a hat! No wonder moral is low!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review your Sr. Management. Bad attitudes start there and roll down!

I have been working at MEDCO full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, great salary, great people when it was Medco.

    Cons

Lay offs lay offs lay offs. Never seen a company like Express Scripts. It's like they are trying to fail! Everyone is overworked to death! You are expected to work 7 days a week and at least 20 hours a day. All the old Medco employees want to package out. Never to see the company again! They fire the Medco employees with all the business knowledge and then ask the ones left to work all day and all nite and think this will get them success! Won't happen!!! Worst company ever!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire the CEO. Fire upper mgmt or Express Scripts only has a few more years to live! Or is that the motive?
