Pros
There are times when some employees are very nice to each other. Good hours. Nothing much to say about pros.
Cons
Not enough on specific trainings and customer service. Many employees are lazy.
Metro has a low employee attendancy rate, resulting other workers/employees to bear with extra work.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire the store managers who started from the bottom of the chain. Employees who have been
working there for more than a year should be encouraged to attend some of its staff meetings.
Pros
Well established grocery retailer in Quebec that expanded their presence into Ontario several years ago through an acquisition. Strong momentum for growth. Co-workers are generally friendly.
Cons
Old-fashioned and reactionary management approach. Culture is about 30 years behind. Compensation and opportunities for professional development could be better. Talented people tend to leave but there are many long time employees that remain. Company lacks innovation. If you are content with maintaining the status quo then you will do fine here. Middle management seems reluctant to speak out if they may go against the wishes of senior management.
Advice to Senior Management
Do a better job at hiring qualified people and invest to retain talented people.
Pros

Cons
In transition, companies is trying to compete in a very competeive marketplace
