I worked at MEplusYOU full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Work/life balance, opportunity to contribute in an impactful way as a non-senior level employee, cool work environment (dogs allowed, soda fountains, etc).

    Cons

Major exoduses happen for a reason, faulty strategic vision from leadership, lots of smoke and mirrors from the CEO. Take a look at the client roster on the website... MAYBE half are still current clients. The bulk are case studies from pre-2012.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The name change destroyed over a decade of brand equity and destroyed the company overall. I hear it's in the process of being changed back now, but the damage is done.

I have been working at MEplusYOU (more than an year)

    Pros

Due to some changes in the company, MEplusYOU has really been a great place to work as a junior employee. I have received many opportunities I would have never had at a larger and more top heavy agency. This agency has some of the most genuine people I have met that really care about great work, client relationships and moving the company forward by bringing new digital ideas to the table to keep work up to date and fresh.

    Cons

There has been some recent rockiness and shifts in the company, but feel confident that we're now moving in the right direction.

I worked at MEplusYOU full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - The staff is warm, friendly and mostly very talented. Lately, most use agency as bridge out of DFW.
    - 2004 spent million$ on the offices. Close your eyes - could be Menlo Park, Ca
    - Had top tier clients, AOR and project work. But most clients left. Only a few left.
    - Senior leaders had some chops. All came from decent agencies.

    Cons

    - Doug Levy, CEO named [last] on Glassdoor U.S. marketing CEOs.
    - Analysis paralysis. We didn't (and still don't) care about Net Promoter Scores. It's an agency, not Southwest Airlines.
    - Horrible name change. Imc2 was iconic. CEO changed the name of the agency so imc2 name wouldn't hurt his book sales. As of 04/23/2014, the agency website with new name has to call out on the homepage "we are not a dating service."
    - Those good senior managers mentioned in Pros - all but 2 are left as of April 2014. Sad, but true.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All the leaders who made this a decent agency are gone: The President, CMO, CSO, CCO, Head of New Biz, Head of HR, Head of P&G account, all gone within 6 months. Advice - best years were when CEO let other leaders guide the clients, staff and work.

    Pros

Really nice people with the desire to do good things, a really great mission statement, heritage with a lot of rock star brands/work, great strategic thinking and a few really good creatives.

    Cons

Started really going downhill in 2011 with leadership who could not turn their lofty, pretty vision into practical or operational excellence. Absolutely awful in execution. Sure, there would be "fun" things like beer parties, cookouts, etc...but all of that was just a distraction from a company that couldn't manage finances, that couldn't hire the right people and refused to fire the wrong people, unhappy clients, a President that was more concerned with writing a book than leading/managing his company, and 17 hour days trying to explain to clients why our good thinking can't be executed on on time and on budget with minimal flaws.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

See the company and put it into someone's hands that can actually manage operations. The soul of the company may still be there if you're lucky--but unless you want to continue to run it into the ground, step away, and perhaps rethink your business model.

    Pros

They hire well and do a great job of making you drink the cool-aid at first. As a thought leader they are in the forefront and promote thought leaderships well.

    Cons

The vision of the company and the execution are worlds apart. They run off any employee that tries to live the philosophy because it is a project management and account management shop. If you are a creative or strategist you're a second class citizen and slave to how many hours they have projected for your tast - and they always estimate on what they think a client will sign off on instead of what is needed. No backbone in AM/PM. It ends up meaning there is zero collaboration and team work because there is only enough hours for one person to do a task and asking for input from others would put things over budget. And the ones who try to change that (often coming from big successful agencies) get fired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being intimidated by the people you hire. You hired a person from a bigger agency that is successful and they might have an opinion on a better way to do something? What did you expect?
