Senior Market Risk Analyst (Former Employee)

ProsThe promotion system was based on production which the company put in your hands and the other analysts were knowledgeable.

ConsAs a junior analyst the work life balance could be lacking and the pay for junior analysts was rather paltry.

    Horribly oppressive environment

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsOnly pro was that there were other staff members that could empathize with each others job dissatisfaction. Turn over was high, you could tell the company was on a downward spiral when the CEO was replaced with Corzine.

ConsCons - everything, pay was mediocre; corporate culture was snobby and cuthroat. Management was highly emotional and verbally abusive. They would joke about how they could make staff cry.

    Summer Intern at MF Gobal

    Summer Intern (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsThe best reason to work for MF Global is that you can work your own hours - company management right now is very lax so you can pretty much do as much or as little work as you please.

ConsSome of the downside of working for MF Gobal right now is that your pay will be fairly low. On the positive side, you pay very little in taxes.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement should probably iron out a few issues with its clients' assets under management.

    A good place to work

    Senior Broker (Former Employee)

ProsOk payout, good execution, good co-workers. I enjoyed the people i worked with. Good responsiveness from IT and immeadiate managers, on day to day issues.

ConsA couple of bad managers can interfear with a lot of good projects, slowing them down or causing them to crash. Hard to balance quality of life aspects.

Advice to Senior ManagementInternal reviews need to be applied more to management than lower level employees.
