    Pros

Employees can attend frequent gallery talks with curators and there are often discounts for event tickets (lectures, music).

    Cons

Some of the offices are in the basement and without windows. Other offices are in the new wing and fabulous.

    Pros

industry leader, biggest visual arts organization in town, good work-life balance, average to above average perks that you'd expect from a non-profit. lots of long-time employees who are maybe coasting, a little, but who are loyal to the organization in a way that inspires them to do right by it. made many great professional and personal contacts there.

    Cons

terrible pay, even for a nonprofit. there is a sense that working for the mfa is a privilege. deeply entrenched fiefdoms. absolutely terrible ethnic diversity and suffers from the same problem that other arts organizations do: it's expensive to get the required degrees, and the jobs just don't pay enough, so if you're not supported by family or a partner, there's a real sense that you have to sacrifice financial stability for the sake of the arts. problem employees are isolated or promoted, which is not much help to their direct reports.

    Pros

Getting to know the amazing art collection in this behind-the-scenes way was a wonderful privilege. Everyone in the department was nice and very interesting to talk to. My tasks were varied, I learned a lot, and there were several opportunities/events just for interns, which was appreciated.

    Cons

I really enjoyed my internship except for my supervisor, who was the most anal and demanding person I have ever had the displeasure to meet. She took the internship WAY too seriously, and I was always terrified for our weekly meetings (again, way too seriously) in which she seemed to take joy in making me feel lowly and inept. I wish having provided free labor for several months would result in at least an acknowledgment of the several job applications I've submitted since.

    Pros

A good opportunity to understand museum marketing. Coworkers were nice.
I liked it especially when I had some time to walk the museum looking for inspiration for marketing materials.

    Cons

No full-time or part-time job opportunity after internship.
