Pros
After 5 years, you get 5 weeks of paid time off.
After 1 year, you get 4 weeks of paid time off.
One free meal a day.
Good medical/dental/vision insurance.
Cons
Hard to move up. Wish the senior management would treat the employees the same way they treat themselves.
Advice to Senior Management
My bosses of my department are amazing. I wish the rest of the management at MGM were the same.
Pros
I worked in the back of house. Great company to work for, interesting industry from a business standpoint. Great starting point to get to Vegas if you so desire. People are amazing. You can't walk around with your head down there, always someone saying hi or asking you how your doing. Truly a pleasant environment. Free meals are a great plus.
Cons
Detroit.
Disconnect between some departments (especially audit and the rest of the company)
Free meals will make you fat quickly.
They bring in companies to sell things at lunch periodically which are supposedly "deals" but are actually much more expensive. With the added bonus of payroll deduction, the company is really hurting their employees, most of which are essentially blue collar workers.
Advice to Senior Management
Community involvement and other "team building" activities are great but feel forced down your throat sometimes. Communicate useful information to employees. Stop offering things to sell in the lunch room! You're essentially making your employees spend their money because they think they're getting good deals.
Pros
Big company with many opportunities
The company is for it's employees and creates many opportunities for personal growth and development to all employees
Treat employees well and listens to opinions of employees
Cons
It is hard working with the union
Advice to Senior Management
continue opportunities for diversity and employee personal growth
Pros
The free food.... the pay is higher than most other employers. The benefits are a nice perk and better than you will find most other places in the area. The ability to recieve the discount in Vegas is a huge perk and the atmospher is also busy.
Cons
The free food... scheduling is bad and there is a lot of slackers. Ensure your job is done, but don't count on others to help you out, they wont and worse yet, they get away with it. Management lacks the proper way to evaluate employees. Time is valued over anything, not productive work.
Advice to Senior Management
Change the way the company values people, hard work before ethnic
Pros
The benifits are great. The locations are beautiful.
Cons
Ridged corporate structure. Little room for career growth in some departments. Unsatisfying work.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide more competitive pay and allow for career growth.
