    Pros

Great corporate environment for a growing mid-size company. Expanding lines of business. Excellent boss and coworkers. Overall positive work environment that keeps you busy and interested, doing something important and vital for the communities at large. I'm proud to work here. Benefits are great, too!

    Cons

Because it's a mid-size company there are some growing pains, but efforts are being made to work through those.

    Advice to Management

Continue to grow the new lines of business, engage employees at every level and recognize their achievements (which you do through various means already, but each new step is one that connects us closer to you) and continue to invest in training for all levels of employee.

    Nice atmosphere, good co-workers. Improving.

    Cons

Salary surveys need to be done for HQ employees.

    Advice to Management

Relay more on salary surveys at HQ.

    Pros

I worked at a great job site with very interesting clients. It was certainly the most intellectually stimulating job I have ever had. If MHM had not taken over the contract, I would still be there.

    Cons

MHM is a for-profit healthcare company. For profit, to them, seems to mean squeeze your employees for every last ounce of work and pay them at the 10-25th percentile compared to salaries elsewhere. Their strategy seems to be to hire brand new, young professionals so as not to have to pay them much. They also eliminate higher-paid professional classifications (e.g., psychologists) and replace them with lower-paid professionals classifications (e.g., social workers). I hear they treat managers better, but at a price. From what I saw, they turned people with good hearts and loyalty into soulless corporate shills. The management is entirely NOT transparent about their plans and intentions. The last year I worked there, they eliminated their old health insurance benefit and replaced it with a high-deductible, cheaper plan. One had to pay $5000 in medical expenses out of one's pocket before the health insurance would "kick in" and pay for ANYthing.

    Advice to Management

Your high-deductible health insurance plan (implemented in 2014 in MA, not sure if it's the same this year) amounts to discrimination against people with chronic illness/disability. Effectively, you pay them $5000 less than other employees, simply because they have a disability or illness.

    Pros

They have a contract with the State of Nevada. Beyond that, they offer nothing. I have no idea why Nevada money is flowing out of the state to these people.

    Cons

They don't care at all about their contractors, only about maintaining their free-flowing pipeline of crummy temp jobs. If it's their employee vs. the State, the employee is on their own.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like employees rather than like little annuities that you just feed off of. Pretend that you are involved in the work that your employees do.

    Pros

Great learning experience for a new social worker. Paid CEUs. Challenging situations that make you grow. If you can work in this environment, you can work anywhere.

    Cons

Absolutely no work/life balance. You are penalized for taking time off or going to doctor's appointments. In order to keep up with the work load, you are forced to work extremely long days. Management encourages staff to to be cut throat. After I left, I was told it is "policy not to give references."

    Advice to Management

Don't reward managers who bully and harass staff members. Have an HR representative in the prison so you know what is going on in the prison, especially when you receive complaints about management.

    Pros

    -Base pay is competitive.
    -PTO is generous.

    Cons

    -Flawed leadership.
-Senior level management is the epitome of micromanagement.
-Senior level management's directives and requests create confusion among the staff.
-You will spend endless hours in meetings.
-You are constantly in "fire drill" mode.
-Unfavorable work/life balance. Expect to work long hours and weekends.
-Staff members completely ignore other staff members and act as if they don't even exist.

    Advice to Management

Management should treat staff with respect and reflect on their style of management. Micromanaging staff only ends up hurting the company in the long run.

    Pros

    only if you are starving

    Cons

Very poor communication with supervisors. No orientation or training. They suck people in use them and replace them for younger staff with little experience for much less pay. When I left this company they gave me my last months pay in the form of a debit card. I could only withdraw $400.00 per day and was charged $3.50 every time I used it, need I say more!

    Advice to Management

Poor communication and non-supportive directors. Limited time off. Unrealistic expectations of staff. They don't care about thecrmoyees on the ground level, which are the clinical staff. Major staff turnover! They believe staff is replaceable and don't makethe effortto invest in a supportive collaborative work environment.
