    Great base pay. Generous paid time off.

    Cons

    Absolutely no support from management at your site or at the corporate level. Very poor management. Management is very power hungry and nasty to employees, especially nurses. Clinicians are treated with disrespect. VERY high turnover. Unethical company. They hire you to give medical care to inmates, then make you justify everything you do, and then deny as much medical care as they can. Lawsuits waiting to happen. Little resources to give medical care. No care for career growth or leaning. Very greedy company that does not want to spend money on good care.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Care about your staff (low turn over is a money saver and they are less likely to bash your company on the internet). Respect your providers. Listen to their suggestions and ideas. Understand they are trying to give good care and in doing so keep the company off the front page of the paper. Get rid of the bad management. They are a big reason for high medical staff turn over. Giving good medical care may cost some money, but it's cheaper than lawyers and lawsuits. So if you only think in dollars, think about that.

    Alot of paid time off

    Cons

    Management is horrible. They have no management skills and dont care about their employees. Management needs to be trained in management skills. They have a HUGE turnover rate and I am on my way out of here like the others. I couldnt even last a year here. Its not worth the stress. They can not keep anybody because management does not appreciate the employees. Their is no advancement opportunity what so ever and management is so sneaky and only care about themselves. The pay is low and their are no real raises. Only a couple cents once a year. Managers do not care about the professional growth of employees. I would not recommend MHM services to anyone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Reorganize your managers. Train your managers so that they know how to manage employees. A company is only as good as their employees. If employees are not happy then the company will not be successful.

    Pros

    If you are experienced and worked for prior contractor they will suck you in with decent pay rate and benefit package. In time will likely force you out and hire new staff for much less pay

    Cons

    unethical , underhanded management. will throw underlings under the bus.
     will fire long-term experienced employees, and hire young inexperienced for less pay/benefits. Dishonest. Have ruined careers and lives.

    Grow a conscious. Stop lying to protect your own backsides. Don't know how you people sleep at night!

    Unable to truthfully list one.

    Cons

    Employees are unappreciated and mistreated and very much kept in the dark about matters that should be made known. There is absolutely no possibility for growth. Common hire tactic is the Bait & Switch. Lack of assistance from supervisors to strive for better concerning their support staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Treat professionals with respect at all times. Listen to what they might have to offer. Acknowledge the need for promotion in compensation when it is well deserved instead of just worrying about yourself. The Bait and Switch practice was quickly seen after hire. Very disheartening and I do hope many will read this to be aware of what this company is truly like before applying. Although one could apply for the sake of having a job until a better company posts positions that knows how to take care of their employees, not the company's profits first.

    Pros

    Excellent clincical experience, pay is great for an entry level social work position, they will hire you as license eligible, good vacation time, they provide weekly supervision by a licensed clinician, extensive training/orientation, flexible hours, management is supportive, CEU reimbursement, decent benefits.

    Cons

    Can be a stressful working environment, while the training was extensive, at times it was repetitive, can be challenging to take vacation at times due to the workload.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be aware of the caseload each staff member is managing, as well as traits unique to each site that may impact how busy clinicians are.

    Experience the extraordinary in human behavior. If you can make it here, you'll make it anywhere.

    Cons

    Company is cheap; high turnover; support from regional and national offices is lacking; stat driven focus, not quality. Ample PDO time with less opportunity to utilize it due to short staffing and having to negotiate coverage of crisis shifts during times of absence; extreme treatment limitations due to DOC security issues.

    Good benefit package, includes: dental, vision and medical.
    Excellent management in Northern CA.

    Cons

    Training does not exist the philosophy is sink or swim and if you do ask for assistance, you''ll never get an answer.
    MHM Psy.D's are burning their bridges with Jail staff, County staff and Court officials, Program Director's are destroying MHM's name for their own agenda. Lunch breaks are frowned on and Federal mandated breaks, do not exist in MHM.

    Do background checks on your staff, you have felons working with felons.
    MHM Northern California Management needs to check-out the staff in the So. CA offices very carefully.

    Pros

    Good pay, good benefit package, and you can earn a lot of personal/sick/vacation time. Their company orientation is also very thorough, covering everything in the employee handbook.
    The nurses who had worked in the prison helped each other out

    Cons

    There's a high turnover rate, and while I was there it was common for all of us nurses to be forced to stay and work an extra shift because of call outs and short staffing. This could happen 3-4 times a week. Everyone was exhausted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to your nurses when they say there are issues with the Department of Corrections staff and help them to work it out. These issues don't happen often, but we are on their turf and the DOC staff can make our jobs miserable. Support your nurses and ancillary staff.

    At least you have a job.

    Cons

    They don't pay you the right amount that you earned. You accrue all this leave, but are not allowed to use it d/t "coverage needs". The regional manager is verbally abusive, and talks about you behind your back to medical staff, which gives you a bad reputation amongst your peers. And she is a pathological liar. State management does not care what goes on on the site, as long as that money from the contract is coming in. Quick to fire, slow to hire. Then they expect the remaining employees to pick up the slack, like we don't have lives of our own. Advice to the wise if you are looking for a decent job: RUN Forrest! RUN!!!

    Fire yourself. Replace yourself with people who are equitable, fair, and true professionals.

    Cannot come up with any pros other than decent hourly wage for experienced nurses

    Cons

    Dishonest, unethical company. Managerial staff not supportive of staff. Will not listen to staff concerns about issues even when it involves patient care. Management will throw underlings under the bus when issues do arise, to cover their own hides, even when said concerns were brought to their attention many times.

    Take some responsibility, rather than always laying blame. Listen to you staff on the front lines. Grow a conscience. Stop terminating long standing, higher paid, ethical employees, to hire inexperienced lower pay staff.That just stinks.
