Pros
Entry level job for a recent graduate with an IT degree. Requires minimal experience for the most part. A decent benefits package (excluding salary)
Cons
Incompetent managment
Absence of basic product education and training for employees
Support staff are forced to use outdated computers and testboxes
Abusive clientele
A Tyrant CEO
Advice to Senior Management
Treat people humanely
Pros
stable company
place to work for a longer period (average years people are with the company 10 years and more)
one can work independently
flat hierarchies
Cons
only head count oriented (keeping it to the lowest level) but complex technology projects
lack in people development
Advice to Senior Management
either reduce complexity of products and projects or get more knowledgeable people on board
Pros
Good solutions with an "ERP concept solution"
Established and recognized company over the world
Very profitable company
Salary is average
Low pressure
Good work-life balance
Cons
Executive and Senior Management live in an ivory tower. "We power the hospitality industry!"
Very poor client services values
Softwares adapted to a certain market (US) and too complicated to use for the industry they are addressing to (design and usability)
Poor long term vision due to lake of engagement in the SaaS model
Opaque communication (from US to EU, from EU to subsidiary, from Senior Mgt to employees), the worst is when it is a matter of products and services information...
Very poor internal tools to help structure the company and avoid the terrible administrative mess
Very reluctant to the change
Closed minded people working in the company since years and locking any changes to enhance the way everything is done
it's like you were saying people you met extraterrestrial life...
Advice to Senior Management
Congratulations Tom G., you built a robust company, and it is a real success.
But you missed the right time to quit the company few years earlier...
The big challenge is now to recruit experienced executive management people, that will recruit experienced senior management people to make the change needed by the actual size of the company! if you want to reach the $2 billion revenues, that is a must!
Pros
Its great when you are looking for a flexible schedule and weekends off.
You get more freedom than most places as long as you produce.
Cons
Information so you can learn and grow is not easily obtained.
Management structure is poor.
You get lost in the size of the company.
If you are out in the field and need help depending on the time you might be stuck.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on the people the make your company run and the ones who give up there off time to help others.
Pros
They can't really lay anyone off since we're below skeleton crew. Also you don't need to worry about trying very hard since raises and bonuses are canceled indefinitely, just make sure you're at your desk prior to 8 and after 5 and you should be good. Plus since we've lost so many people management is pretty scared of the employees at this point, which I guess is a pro, I don't even really know anymore.
Cons
Just about everything. There's no work/life balance here, flex time would mean employees would take full advantage of the company and steal company resources. Those that have been here long enough have bought into the system fully a la Stockholm Syndrome and agree that employees are lazy and greedy. The newbies that are coming on are becoming unhappy almost immediately. The whole thing is just an absolute mess.
Advice to Senior Management
It's disingenuous to claim employees are evil and just want to take advantage of the company when the company is looking to take advantage of them. In an ideal world employees would want to trade their best for the company's best.
Pros
job security
some awesome co-workers
So much potential to be even more successful if only they would enter this century and treat their eployees with trust and respect.
Cons
lack of management's trust in employees
lack of flexibility
poor compensation
hostile work environment
dwindeling benefits
lack of training
lack of communication
micro management
double standards
low morale
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up! You are driving your terrific employees away. Most people want to do a good job but you ae making it very difficult.
Pros
-Mostly decent people to work with.
-Management will try to help if they can
-Great place to gain expertise in Micros products to carry back into Hospitality Field.
-No layoffs
Cons
-Poor training
-Poor pay
-Poor hours
-Poor benefits
-Dealing with irritated customers all day.
-People quitting all the time.
-Angry customers
Advice to Senior Management
-pay more money to employees
-increase benefits
-employees should be your number one asset.
-train people if you expect them to be experts for a product
Pros
-Interesting work
-Employee growth possible
-Chance to work with many different technologies, great for resume building
-General respect from a powerless lower/middle management that knows the score but I think would like to do well by employees if they could
-Ample parking
-Great coworkers who on average seem to be above average when it comes to intelligence and capability and whom I honestly believe would like nothing better than to work hard and provide as good a product as possible
-Plenty of opportunity to change teams and/or move up with so many people quitting the last year or two
Cons
-No raises last year
-Salaried employees are expected to work above and beyond without overtime or comp time (and I believe hourly employees are not being allowed to work past their 40 hours but I'm not certain)
-All indicators show that senior management doesn't seem to care or even notice the mass exodus and resulting brain drain of employees over the last year or two.
-Management is constantly walking around trying to catch people not working
-No stock options for most people under manager level
-No flex time, so if you're an engineer or other to whom flex time is a common thing in many workplaces think again.
-Very much a CYA culture so don't be surprised to get thrown under the bus a good deal
-Employee morale is terrible. I've never seen new hires become so cynical so fast.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow flex time and start treating employees like professionals and not children, as long as people get their projects done on time that's all that should matter. Provide overtime for people who work nights and weekends. Give everyone stock options, when everyone has a stake in the company they'll work a lot harder for it. Realize that this company has great potential but employees need consideration as much as the stock holders.
Pros
Fellow co-workers are good to work with
Steady paycheck
Can't lay off much more, so since we're here we're staying
Cons
Poor pay
Poor benefit
No bonuses
Poor hours
Poor pay
Dealing with angy people all the time
Poor or no training
Advice to Senior Management
Your employees are your best assets, treat them that way and pay them for what they are worth. There are ALOT of bloated management salaries whereas the people out in the field making the company prosper get overlooked and crapped on.
Pros
Good health benefits
Job security in Customer Support
Gain experience in the technical computer world
Cons
Lack of promotion.
Lack of raises - No raises since 2008 for any employee in support.
Understaffed.
Stressed environment.
Low morale.
Upset customers.
Lack of praise when you do good and no compensation for it.
Management hardly ever helps with your case work.
Management expects you to do other employees work, because the other employees decide to be lazy.
