Dismal with little reward or motivation

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Overland Park, KS

I worked at MIQ Logistics

ProsPeers are fantastic and knowledgeable. Like soldiers on the battlefield many friendships where forged.

ConsMultiple paycuts and being stripped of benefits including bonus opportunities and 401k matching coupled with short staffing and hiring freezes should say enough about this company.

Upper management is out of touch with what the employees are up against and only interested in what the monthly reports look like to the private investors.

Middle management is ineffective. Getting anything meaningful accomplished through them is an exercise in futility.

Employee moral is at an incredible low.

Advice to Senior ManagementMiddle management needs to listen to the people on the ground and pass that along in a more effective manner. Stop looking for the cheapest route at the expense of company moral. No book about teamwork or customer support is going to correct the issue if the team is constant beaten down.

ConsThe company is in financial trouble and you don't know if you are going to have a job from day to day

Advice to Senior ManagementThe Teamsters have made enough sacrifices to save this company it is time for upper management to do the same

Laid off while others let the company go under...

Driver (Current Employee)
Irving, TX

I have been working at MIQ Logistics

ProsCo workers, pay, location, and vacation time. The only reason i worked there was the union. I loved the option to work days.

ConsTerrible equipment, awful management that knows nothing about logistics! Being laid off when people who are unable to do the work are still full time! People with seniority do absolutly nothing and expect everyone else to do their job while they get paid! Being forced to work hours that ruin any family relationships. I am divorced because of YRC!

Advice to Senior ManagementStudy logistics, freight management, and how you treat employees!

Fair and so so hours to deal with

ASD CLERK (Current Employee)
Toledo, OH

I have been working at MIQ Logistics

ProsGreat pay, and insurance, so so hours to choose from. Pretty good atmosphere with all the people working so closely.

ConsThe whole gets reprimanded for what the few do wrong, seems unfair. Way too much lighting. Causes headaches. Chairs are not the best to sit in all day.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen you know who is casing problems deal with the individual, don't punish the whole. Give in on write up if someone is late for a legit reason.

enjoy coming into work each day.

Yard Jockey/City Driver (Current Employee)
Harrisburg, PA

I have been working at MIQ Logistics

Prossalery, healthcare(eye, dental, etc.) and retirement, not to mention a safety consious work environment and safe work rules to follow.

Consin these days of a down economy, job security is just not there. it seems the low person on the totem pole is just a number.

Advice to Senior Managementmore honest communication between employees from the bottom up to upper management. beleive it or not, people will work better if they know the truth, not from rumors.

before it became yrc roadway express was the best company in the world to work for. now, i am not sure.

Road Driver (Current Employee)
Jackson, MS

I have been working at MIQ Logistics

ProsUnion job with union wages, benefits other companies do not have. Mileage and time off is great when you work. problem now is to get everybody to work.

Conssometime they make dispatch mistakes, maintenance of trucks it the pits, and sometime the right hand don't know what the left hand is doing. need to save money but will send and overloaded truck on the rd to get a ticket and have to pay a fine. just one small example of waste.

Advice to Senior Managementforce workers to abide by union agreement when working, move freight, and don't waste money.

YELLOW, has leeched off another GREAT company, and ran into the ground!

Driver (Current Employee)
Carlisle, PA

I have been working at MIQ Logistics

ProsLike any Teamster Company, the wages are much better than most LTL Carriers. Better protection of retaining your job fairly, but as far as IBT protecting your jobs future, forget it!

ConsIf YRC continues to throw it's money away, and not focusing on the most cost effective and quickest ways to deliver it's costomers freight on time, the company won't be around much longer!!! Bankrupt!

Advice to Senior ManagementManagers / Supervisors need to wake up, and start listening to what the employees have to say, when it comes to that specifc job title. For too long managers have used the employees as tools, and have very little knowledge about what's intailed in preforming the actual jobs, that they are managing!
Stop looking at the numbers on papers, and take a closer look at what your actually accomplishing! The paint always looks nice on the outside, but you need to look more at the foundation!

Company in Downfall

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Decatur, GA

I have been working at MIQ Logistics

ProsYRC could be considered an alright place to work if you are interested in the export and import of manufactured goods. They primarily deal with retail distrubution.

ConsYRC Logistics is not a good place to work due to the failure of the company. They have taken a huge downfall in stock value and are losing business customers at a fast rate.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe company should take a huge look at the primary assets of the company. Departments are falling, but it is not due to the facilities not meeting requirements by the customer. Each department would be graded on the higher end of the spectrum compared to other competitors. The fall must have began somewhere in the financial status of the company. Money was being spent in the wrong places which ended up in the failure of the Logistics department.
