ProsStaff is wonderful--all potential employees are first vetted by the analysts and associates, so it is highly unlikely that someone you would not want to work with will make it through the interview process. The work environment itself is very relaxed and the hours are reasonable. There is no sense of tension or competition with other analysts.

ConsMMG only recruits at Ivy League colleges, MIT and Wellesly. Masters candidates do not generally make it far in the process either, as only analyst positions are offered to new recruits and there are no summer internships available.

Current Employee – been working at MMG Partners full-time for less than a year

ProsThe analysts and associates are smart, hardworking, and always willing to help one another. The firm pursues a positive rapport both in and out of the office through firm bonding programs as well as mentorship programs. The small size of the company allows for regular communication between employees and breaks down the fastidious bureaucracy frequently found in larger firms.

ConsThere can be some downtime in between projects during which work is slower and more menial.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlan a cool offsite for us this year! We would love to get to know the upper management and those who don't work in the New York office better.

ProsYour young, smart co-workers who share in your misery. In all honesty, it becomes a struggle when you champion the little things like finally being allowed to take a vacation.

(Note: Don't be fooled by the two recent reviews - analysts were asked to post them by the CEO to boost his company's ratings.)

Cons* Very damaging on your resume. I have had a difficult time finding a job, contrary to what we were told.
* I heard horror stories about the CEO withholding recommendation letters - so much for that selling point.
* An offsite every year (aka never)
* They lay off employees while asking the current employees to recruit new employees

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease re-organize, hire a professional CEO, make the company transparent. It

Pros- Awesome junior people
- Hours are good
- Minimal travel
- Relaxed office environment

Cons- Management (read the CEO) is horrible
- Good Partners jumping ship
- Good junior people jumping ship
- No new projects, sometimes salaries are not paid because firm is not making any revenue
- Completely opaque review process

Advice to Senior Management- CEO should stop being untruthful with clients and employees - the end does not always justify the means
- Partners should get out of there and start their own thing

Former Employee – worked at MMG Partners

Pros- Lenient expense policy
- Young, fun people

Cons- Moses Ma
- Bad salary
- Horrible benefits

Advice to Senior ManagementThere are some really talented and smart people on the staff, but they are held under the thumb of Moses Ma, the CEO. If Moses continues micromanaging recruting, hiring/firing on a whim, and showing unprofessional unfair treatment of his employees, his firm is not going to last very long.
