    Pros

Good work environment. Good coworkers. Great benefits. Ideal work location in the Energy Corridor. The company host activities to cultivate good relationships with employees throughout the year.

    Cons

Senior management is distant and seems unapproachable at times. Support functions within the company are not given proper attention.

    Advice to Management

Do not fill positions based upon tenure alone. Qualifications must be considered or else it causes your qualified candidates to look elsewhere for employment.

  2. Modec is filled with unique and intellectual individuals. Modec also makes work fun planning events for their employees.

    Pros

This is a great Company to work for. I am still friends with my Project Mgmt. team!

    Cons

I worked under contract for too long and needed a more stable place to work at with benefits.

    Advice to Management

My advice to Management is to pay more attention to the more green individuals that bring innovation and efficiency, even if they're under contract.

I worked at MODEC as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

MODEC recently went to a 9/80 schedule, contractors cannot participate. People are very friendly. Business casual dress code with jeans on Fridays. Free breakfast every Friday. From talking with employees salaries a bit below market value but they do get bonuses. It's a Japanese company, so most of the executives are from there. Nice Xmas party, annual crawfish boil and health fair. Lot of long term employees. Contractors tend to stay long term as well.

    Cons

Systems are poor. MODEC is a company that has increased in revenue quickly and their systems have not kept pace. Locations are siloed, slow to unify under management so it's hard to get information from other managers sometimes. Seem to be slow to promote.

    Pros

They have a nice facility. They serve complimentary bagels and cream cheese on Fridays. Some of the employees are friendly.

    Cons

I was swooped down upon by a very unhappy, witch of a manager for sitting at my computer trying to learn new software. She said "we don't need anyone goofing off", despite the fact that I had asked repeatedly for more work.

    Advice to Management

If you have really unhappy managers, don't let them supervise people and infect them with their toxic vibes.

    Pros

Really flexible schedule, management is really layed back... probably mostly due to the lack of projects availible within the industry.

    Cons

lakc of coordination and planning, modec tends to rush into things head strong with a bunch of gray-haired yes men who can't follow through on their promises then expects their people to make magic happen.

    Advice to Management

coordinate and confirm deliverables with sub-contractors before commiting to anything, the end client is depending on MODEC to deliver sub contractors ar your responsibility.

    Pros

    1) Job security is there. Do not seem to retrench people even if u do not perform.
    2) Good learning ground. They give people chance to learn on the job slowly. You can be hired without knowing the job.

    Cons

    1) Do not believe in paying people well.
    2) Sometime people are recuited and promoted based on who they know rather than what they know (reward not base on merits).
    3) Behaviour of some manager need to improve. Need to treat individual with respect.
    4) Prepare to overwork if you are on site.

    Advice to Management

Need to cultivate an environment where every individual are treated with respect. Promote people based on merits.
