Former Employee - Administrative Assistant in Houston, TX

    Pros

They have a nice facility. They serve complimentary bagels and cream cheese on Fridays. Some of the employees are friendly.

    Cons

I was swooped down upon by a very unhappy, witch of a manager for sitting at my computer trying to learn new software. She said "we don't need anyone goofing off", despite the fact that I had asked repeatedly for more work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you have really unhappy managers, don't let them supervise people and infect them with their toxic vibes.

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Houston, TX

    Pros

Really flexible schedule, management is really layed back... probably mostly due to the lack of projects availible within the industry.

    Cons

lakc of coordination and planning, modec tends to rush into things head strong with a bunch of gray-haired yes men who can't follow through on their promises then expects their people to make magic happen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

coordinate and confirm deliverables with sub-contractors before commiting to anything, the end client is depending on MODEC to deliver sub contractors ar your responsibility.

Former Employee - Not Disclosed in Singapore (Singapore)

    Pros

    1) Job security is there. Do not seem to retrench people even if u do not perform.
    2) Good learning ground. They give people chance to learn on the job slowly. You can be hired without knowing the job.

    Cons

    1) Do not believe in paying people well.
    2) Sometime people are recuited and promoted based on who they know rather than what they know (reward not base on merits).
    3) Behaviour of some manager need to improve. Need to treat individual with respect.
    4) Prepare to overwork if you are on site.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to cultivate an environment where every individual are treated with respect. Promote people based on merits.

Current Employee - Instrument Technician in Accra (Ghana)

    Pros

Majority of the entire workers are drawn from the local country in which they operate.

    Cons

There is always job threatening words by the management and also lack of communication between the management and employees.
Expatriates do not respect the norms of the local area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I suggest the company institute a way to check especially human behavior and institute a better way of communication between management and employees.
