    Pros

Morpace Inc. offers market research opportunities in a wide range of industries. If you can stay long enough, you will gain a lot of job experience in internet, mail, and phone studies (depending on industry). They have a great benefits package, paid time off, and holidays.

    Cons

Industry teams act independenly from one another across the company. Meaning one team will have something lacking that another team has been using for a while. Even your personal job experience at Morpace Inc. is largely dependent on which team you are assigned to. Job training was poor even with the option of MorpaceU. Lot of office politics between management and employees. Not an effective company to work for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company needs to be more integrated across industry teams. Training must be uniform across the company for different levels of job entry. Need to resolve the issues behind high job turnover and limit office politics. Be open to a new people with different perspectives and stop group think.

    Pros

    Great work-life balance, very flexible.
    Great compensation, benefits are good.
Family owned business and it shows. Left several years ago and still keep in touch with people - it's a family, not just a job.
Lots of room to grow and big on promoting from within.

    Cons

Could use more training - I taught myself 90% of what I learned there.
Still business casual - a little old fashioned.
Review process is painful. Self reviews, peer reviews - it lasts for months and wastes time that could be spent on something productive. Like working.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to employees on what training would be useful.
    Rethink review process

A Company Struggling To Become "More"

    I worked at MORPACE full-time

    Pros

The company values experience and expertise as demonstrated with a cross generational staff: as opposed to the "young and cheap" orientation like the larger research suppliers
The company has accomplished, solid research professionals in the automotive and health care industry
The company is committed to good information flow and information sharing and transparency with entire staff in regular monthly/quarterly meetings
The company has a commitment to be a good community citizen (e.g., fundraising events)
The company has a commitment to creating a strong group identity by holding social events, especially targeted to younger employees.
    The compensation is good.

    Cons

Company struggling to move beyond its 40+ years of automotive research and its narrowly defined automotive research corporate identity
Company slow to develop a positioning beyond "meat and potatoes" traditional market research
Company slow to develop proprietary products to help it "re-position" itself beyond its niche.
Company slow to embrace "looser and more casual" modern workplace standards and norms -- at times it comes across more like a "silence is golden" accounting firm than a research firm (i.e., they still talk about periodic "Blue Jeans Fridays- but with good shoes" when most researchers can wear jeans everyday elsewhere).
Company struggling to be an aggressive marketing organization -- currently most of the emphasis is reactive focused on repeat business with its established narrow corporate client base and key individuals within them.
Against that backdrop, the company has not been able to grow into the big leagues after so many years which probably makes it ripe for a purchase down the road with the ever growing consolidation of the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Modernize the corporate culture
Diversify the staff to include a greater variety of life and work experiences
Develop proprietary products to break out of the clutter.

    Pros

    Team oriented atmosphere. Friendly people.

    Cons

Little regard for work-life balance. Weekend work is the norm. Pay is horrible, even with numerous years of experience. Frequent turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to stop playing favorites, be open to different personalities, and pay at or above the industry norms.
