Pros
It was a perfect job to work at while going to school. The management staff was very receptive to arranging work schedules around education schedules. The only problem with working at the company was that it was a franchise, and when stores needed improvements some of the stores were overlooked.
It was an excellent place to work if you were an art student/ photography student because of the discount and access to materials, it was also nice to work at because the corporation was fairly small and some of the higher ups seemed to know the lower totem pole workers.
Cons
There was no real way to move up the ladder. It seemed that once in a position it took many years to move up. It was like any retail position, if you start at the bottom- you get a fairly low salary. It was also slightly overpriced because it couldn't compete with some of the larger chains, so sales were continuously ongoing within the store. There was also a lot of employee turnaround and because of the neighborhood it was situated in- working during the holidays was difficult.
While it was easy to converse with the higher ups, information was not really shared.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide opportunities for sales associates to go to trainings that could possibly advance them within the organization.
