I have been working at MPG full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Family atmosphere and a great work-life balance depending on the department.

    Cons

Upper management play favorites when it comes to promotion and raises. No where to go. Very low salary and raises are very infrequent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Former Employee - Assistant Media Planner in Chicago, IL

I worked at MPG for more than a year

    Pros

Nice people? Good location of office in Chicago.

    Cons

Upper management treated Assistant Media Planners very poorly. Small upper management did not know Asst. Media Planners by name, even after hiring. This was back in 2007. Hopefully HR has addressed these issues. Training for Asst. Planners and Buyers was instituted after 4 mont after hire date, completely unreasonable for moving upward. Media planners beware. Many people move from these positions

    I worked at MPG

    Pros

Work life balance, fun, great ppl, opportunities to move within the company, small enough for management to know who you are.

    Cons

Overall business/ losing accounts, CEO turnover (three in 3 years), thinking about the big picture, utilizing all aspects of the company on accounts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice would be to invest time and resources into your current employees, if you care about your employees, your employees will care about the company.

    I worked at MPG

    Pros

MPG has a phenomenal work environment, the people are friendly, they do a lot for their employees, great vacation time and benefits, a lot of flexibility to move to different accounts, overall a great place to get a career started

    Cons

Entry level compensation is very low (but probably comparable to similar positions at other agencies), working hours differ immensely depending on the account you work on (some work 9-5, some work 9-8).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In general I was satisfied with the leadership at MPG, I feel like there should be more consistency across different accounts in terms of training.
