    Good Software development internship

    Pros--Casual, relaxed environment
    --Good place to start out
    --Opportunities to meet and interact with upper level management
    --New head quarters
    --Able to take breaks, play games, etc.

    Cons--Steep learning curve for specific products
    --Slow start to internship program
    --Training is lacking in some areas
    --Low pay (both for interns and salary employees)

    Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on building a "new" MRI brand

    Loved it, now hate it

    ConsLazy management. The job security stress, pay and management politics is ridiculous. The company is surviving on recurring revenue but when it comes to new sales the company is in the toilet. Veterans who have the product knowledge are getting unfair treatment from the middle management, leaving them no choice but to leave the company. Not all veterans deserve the respect but there are few which shouldn't have left the company, creating void.

    Advice to Senior ManagementFor middle managers lead by example and treat your employees with respect.

    Ugly politics and incompetent leaders

    Not expected to work crazy hours.
    Young crowd.

    ConsIncompetent leadership.
    Lack of technical skills and domain knowledge, especially the engineering leaders.
    Lowest salary levels.
    Lack of long term roadmap, weak sales.

    Good company to intern with

    Pros- Get to know senior mgt and interact with them often.
    - Relaxed environment
    - No "busy work", get to work on different projects as they come in
    - Learn about the business from day one
    - Company is growing and it is an exciting time to work there

    Cons- Pay could be a little better
    - They do not give recommendations to outside companies (company policy)

    Advice to Senior ManagementOffer more competitive salaries to those who have interned with the company and proven themselves capable.

    ConsNot very many senior employees to learn new things from; many people are within a few years out of college and aren't experienced as mentors.

    Training modules are kind of poor.

    Advice to Senior ManagementDitch the old software and focus on building something new. Too many problems lie in the existing software that hinder scalability.

    Not a good place to work

    ProsFriendly and helpful co-workers
    Move to new building, even though there was nothing wrong with the old building. They got a sweet deal from the city, plus it is closer to home for CEO and some members of senior leadership.

    ConsLack of vision
    No direction from leadership
    Low pay
    Not too many "veteran" employees remain from pre-Vista era. I heard a lot were let go after Vista took control.

    Opportunity and Growth

    ProsMy experience with the company has been great. Over the last year or so the company got rid of a bunch of employees that were with the prior ownership who refused to change their methods from the 80s (i am guessing some have posted on this site. Now, employees are engaged, the company is growing, the company just announced we are moving to a new headquarters that sounds like a huge upgrade over our existing building and there is a ton of opportunity for promotion and pay increases. I have been promoted twice in the year I have been with the company. Benefits are really good - the company pays 90% of the health deductible and has a 3% annual 401k match. If you work hard and do good work, this is a no brainer.

    ConsInitial base pay is not at the high end of the scale, but you can get big bonuses (I got one last year) and promotions that get your salary up there quick.

    Advice to Senior ManagementYou are making a bunch of changes. While the changes are good , it is hard to work to all the change at once.

    Great opportunity for young professionals

    Pros-Many opportunities for career advancement
    -Good benefits and plenty of time off available
    -The organization is getting on better at communicating important events
    -Growing company with plenty of smart and passionate people

    Cons-Review process needs to be refined

    Advice to Senior Management-Maintain communication with the middle management so that they are better informed and can answer questions from their direct reports
    -Encourage cross-functional communication
