    Pros

They have designed some fair products.

    Cons

    Poor management
    Poor planning
    Poor organization
    Poor cost controls
Haven't made a profit in ten years. Still in business because they sold off other divisions.
They replaced their whole finance department in one year.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees that are telling you Flextronics can't do the work.
Why make them a sole source when you don't need to do it?
    Top heavy

A horrible place to work. Management puts people against each other. I would rather go to prison than work there again. They lie, steal your commissions and play power games and manage by fear and intimidation

    Advice to Management

    Pros

    - Laid back environment.
    - Good place for the new people to acquire experience as one here person wears many hats.

    Cons

    - The pay is well below industry standards. It is not common to hear some of the employees here haven't had a raise in 5 years.
    - Corruption & nepotism at middle and upper management levels. Many family members, friends, relatives of middle and upper management hold high paying jobs despite serious lacks of qualifications. Upper managers make purchases the company does not need for kickbacks.
    - Incompetent & backward management at multiple levels. Some set goals that would only align with their personal advancement with complete disregard to the employees and the whole company.
    - Several individuals in engineering who lack decency and respect for others. It is not uncommon to hear people yell at another for screwing up. Yet these mean and nasty individuals have been here for many years since they are friends/relatives of someone in upper management. They yell at their managers and directors at meetings, in front of everyone, making them quit within a few months.

    Pros

A great group of peers to work with.

    Cons

The product was always behind the competition. They do not support the channel yet have a channel program. Leadership that has no clear qualifications to be in their position.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people who have the voice of the customer and make necessary adjustments to meet customer needs.

    Advice to Management

Change out senior management operate in a more structured manor and track changes to see if they are positive and if not change until you get a formula that works

    Pros

good culture at lower ranks in the company, great managers and good pay

    Cons

one of the weakest CEO's in the industry, Dave S is really smart, but cant lead to save his life. Hard to believe he was a Marine...

    Advice to Management

Find a strong leader and replace Dave, he is the only thing holding us back right now.

    Pros

Worked at MRV for a few years. The company has an interesting and colorful product range meaning you learn a multitude of skills. Met some very dedicated employees, both in sales & tech in all company locations that I have a lot of time for.

It’s been an interesting time over the past few years as the company strives to become one, merging the US and Israel operations, which is an enormous and difficult task. A positive result of this though has been to end the crazy competition between the product divisions, especially in the optical transport range, which was always a challenge to explain to customers.

    Cons

More recently the company has started to become top heavy & bureaucratic, neglecting the real people who make the company a success on a day to day basis, i.e. the Sales People and Sales Engineers. Small teams so very hard to progress thru the company.

The product range is still relatively the same, with no real innovations and price reductions to reflect the current market conditions. This gives the ground troops a very hard job to do in an increasingly competitive market.

Now trying to compete with the “big boys” with larger, more complex switching platforms – a venture that will not succeed without a significant investment in personnel and training at the ground level; current capability is nowhere near adequate.
Too small a pool of sales engineers and the company's reluctance to employ more means it cannot offer full support capabilities. SE's are expected to be fully competent in many different product ranges & flavors at the same time - a good challenge but very few people are capable of this.
Used to pride itself on developing/modifying products based on customer feedback, more recently this has changed to a long drawn out process so no different to other companies and cannot use a USP.

    Advice to Management

Drop the list prices, reduce lead times and get selling aggressively. Admit that you don't offer the best solutions in the business and sell accordingly. Start hiring people who can actually do the job, not just dictate to others.

Bear in mind that getting into the "small" core switching/large aggregation space is a big gamble and must be prepared very carefully

    Cons

The company made some brave strategic decisions during the last 2 years, which may have negative impact on the near future.
