    Pros

Benifits are good for now. It's a paycheck . Get a small bonus. Vacations days. Sick days. The people i work with.

    Cons

Unfair /unresponsive management, lots of big dreams w/technology that NEVER works correctly. You will get training, but by the time they actually are ready, you will not remember what you learned. MSC "culture " is laughable, looks real good on paper but it's all talk. They have an open door policy but don't use it, it will be held against you. They use food as an incentive ,no thank you i want money. They have so many goals which are only there to hold you back. They have a set amount of money you will make and once you hit that you will not make anymore. They have a set amount of people who can get a certain raise so even if you hit all your numbers and goals you may not get what you deserve. The communication between managers , employees and the branchs is the worst. Yes I said EMPLOYEES. Way ,way too many meetings that lead to nothing except what seems to be mangers trying to cover their buts. They are afraid to confront possible race issue's. They have so many confusing numbers for your productivity that you don't have any idea how it all works and that is probably how they want it. You can never get a straight answer. They are in denial about everything its like if they just keep saying "It's a great tool or a great idea that everyone will believe it.. Blind leading the blind.

    Advice to Management

Stop faking it. Do what you say you do.!

    Pros

I loved working at MSC because the work was consistant and challenging. Sometimes overwelming but the people that I worked with were great. There was health and 401k plan. The branch manager was super cool.

    Cons

The thing I dislike about my experience with MSC is that in my interview I was told the company never laid people off. There was conflict in the office with associates and I worked in the warehouse. But because they couldn't get along they moved all our operations to Ontario CA and let me go for no error on my part. I never took vacation and worked after hours to lock up after pest control or carpet cleaners. I opened the office everymorning, took out trash, cleaned refrigerator and kitchen off the clock because that place was my home away from home, where I spent most of my life. And then after almost 2 and a half years they shut everything down in the office and did had me ship all my inventory to another branch in LA and even kept me around a few extra weeks because there was not one reason to terminate my employment, and the attempts to persuade me to quit during that time were failing. I pulled aside for some "off the record" conversations. I really enjoyed working there and hoped that it would have been the job I retired with. But it is a great place to work if they keep you.

    Advice to Management

Don't tell people that the company doesn't lay anybody off or "we don't fire our employees they fire themselves."

    Pros

The company has really good training probably one of the best training, OK benefits, nice office to work.

    Cons

Unorganized company, unpaid, a lot of micro management, promote associates who cheated the system and don't know how to be supervisors or managers. The largest turnover in the company, people leaving to find new and better jobs with better pay.

    Advice to Management

They should get rid most of the supervisors and management, start over who would best qualified and know how to be a supervisor and manager. Don't work for

    Pros

The company has a great group of hard working people all over the country. The values and integrity of the Ceo are high.

    Cons

The CEO has a high IQ but no emotional intelligence. He is not a leader as he cannot connect With people. He can be compared to President Obama, great speaker but not qualified for the job as he has no experience and no history of success. The words at first sound good but like Obama we now have no confidence that he can lead us to better times. He blames everyone else for the problems including the former Ceo. He is in the job because he is part of the family.

    Advice to Management

Please share this with the Board and accept responsibility. We all want to win.

    Pros

Nice building, nice cubicles, nice scenery outside the building.

    Cons

You are only allowed to post for the internal jobs. The problem with that is over 20 jobs on the public website apposed to 2 on the internal postings. I'm assuming that is how they control who comes into the company and how they will keep them in the same box. I agree with the poster that said be careful of the good reviews, they come from upper management. The last good review was no doubt written by a marketing executive. We have all heard those same phrases repeated in company meetings. Also agree with the person that said people pretend to be happy because they will not speak up in fear of upper management. Employees are forced to gripe among each other just to get through the day. The mission statement is a joke. Upper Management does not care about employees, suppliers, or customers.

    Advice to Management

The CEO needs to take control of the company and seek out experienced, talented, and well educated individuals in upper management positions. Honestly I don't know what he's thinking. Has he noticed how many people have walked out the door in the last 5 years? Has he ever asked why? Right now departments are in chaos. Associates are tired and overworked. You can't be competitive working on old systems and using a skeleton crew to get the job done. Associates are tired and frustrated.

    Pros

Company car and hood benefits. Lots of items to sell! But will never get delivered.. Check never bounces. Oh!! And they pay for your gas

    Cons

Micromanagement taking over here!! Be careful reading good reviews here! Guaranteed they are written from upper management because they are losing people faster than they can hire!! Unattainable commission plan, branch meetings have no direction, market manager lives for micro management!! And only hires people he can manipulate and control! If your looking for a check until u find a real job you will be fine but don't plan a life here!!

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your sales team like children! If you knew how to hire good peolpe and pay them decent you wouldn't have all ur managers micro managing..

    Pros

Fair training and a good company to put on a resume while you are looking for a better job trying to leave MSC.

    Cons

Horrible upper management that lacks leadership; always running to HR and corporate for fear they will get fired!
For those people that won SID awards, this doesn't mean you can lead even though you might be good salespeople.
This is a horrible place to work at. I hate it and I am looking for a new job.

    Advice to Management

Quit MSC. You are ruining the company. Stop being parasites.

    Pros

Company car. Insurance benefits. 401 K. Stock.

    Cons

Too many products. Too many initiatives added monthly so making commission becomes very difficult. National accounts are negotiated by national sales manager and pricing is at a low GP that hurt your sales in other accounts each month.

    Advice to Management

Change the way commissions are paid out.

    Pros

I did call this 'out of there over a year' didn't i?

    Cons

Well, about 14 months since my resignation, I've kept in close contact with many associates. I mean several associates. I mean a few. Actually, now, none. They did an amazing job of chasing talent out the door. What a miserable place to work when your own CEO looks you in the eye and says 'we will always be a Long Island company.' Yeah sure Erik. From what I'm told, Melville is a ghost town. For 2 individuals who made my life hell at MSC and are still on the sinking ship, all I can say is...karma.

    Advice to Management

Cut the NY associates off of live support so they can find a real career. Stop wasting their time!
