    I worked at MSDSonline

    Pros

-Great environment for college grads/young adults
-Fun incentives, happy hours, intramural teams, camaraderie
-More opportunities for training/development than when I first started
-Great location right off the brown line
    -Casual dress code

    Cons

-Sometimes the "young/fun/relaxed" environment can be too much of all of those things. Often times, quite unprofessional.
-Some managers seem more interested in being cool and "one of the guys" than actually helping their team with accounts
-Not a lot of opportunity for advancement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try harder to integrate the different departments, try to create an environment that is more focused on personal development

    Pros

At MSDSonline, the culture and community is so comforting. Everyone at the company is pretty young and easy to relate to if you are just out of college. If you work hard and show dedication, you have the opportunity to move up in the rankings, especially on the sales side. Great benefits.

    Cons

It is mundane work some of the time. The leadership can be stubborn if you do not show initiative.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not be afraid to show that you would like to move up the totem pole. They like productive and efficient workers.

    Pros

Great work environment, awesome learning curve, allowed to touch just about everything in the system and learn from higher-ups with experience to back their titles.

    Cons

Definitely able to see that the company is at the point where growth is limited. The department I was in was effective but small, which is good but limits vertical growth and moving up the ladder difficult.

That said they still do a great job of giving more responsibilities and allowing you to work on more projects etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No complaints, pay could be higher but no small company will compete with fortune 500 paygrades. All in all, great place to start your career and learn lots during your time there.

    Pros

This is a learning ground for working in the modern business environment. You will have great times and terrible times, but all in all it will prepare you to handle most situations. It seems like everyone here is starting out, so everyone is just trying to do the best they can with limited oversight.

The dress code is relaxed, the people will meet on your teams are great (minus the regional sales managers), the product is relatively straight forward, and being connected to the merchandise mart is a plus.

The company events are always a good time, and it is great to work with a purely Gen Y place.

The product really does help people and make's their lives easier, and I often don't feel like I'm pushing things on others

    Cons

The on-boarding training is not good, but they are continuing to work on it.

They say you will have a good work life balance, but in order to do well you will have to put in 50 to 60 hours a week. Not much room for free time there.

The mid level management is pretty poor, and have a tendency to try and micro manage in order to meet their numbers. They sometimes give good advice, but tend to have their interest at heart first.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Teams do well when they feel empowered, have a vision, and aren't dragging each other down. Keeping this in mind will help employees feel like they have a purpose and not just merely grinding on the phone to churn out as much money as they can (that's what Wall street is for and they make a heck of a lot more money there.)

great dress code, friendly, very young so you get along with everyone if they are your kind of people, good atmosphere, they are doing really well as a company etc

    Cons

sales-oriented, high-turnover, i don't feel expected to stay very long or feel very made to feel like a real employee

I worked at MSDSonline full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The culture, location and perks are relatively good with this company - it's attractive for any new grads looking for a fun place to work. It's also in the SaaS technology space which is an intriguing and constantly evolving industry. The organization is also experiencing growth and shows no signs of slowing.

    Cons

Executive leadership is interested in filling seats and churning out sales. They expect sales people to fall in line and they tend to indirectly stifle creativity. In many ways they create the illusion that they need ideas and you're contributing to strategy when in reality, your ideas aren't taken seriously.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider a more direct approach and create department guides with clearly defined expectations, careers paths, etc... The cheese always seemed to be moving and career path is confusing. People also know when they're being pushed aside and not taken seriously, so don't patronize them.

    Pros

Awesome culture great upper management. Some middle managers are great also. Product is solid support staff is excellent new things always happening. Riding the new regulations bubble and you can make some money. Great place for newly graduated students and entry-level starters.

    Cons

Sales will come to a screeching once the regulations bubble bursts. Upward mobility is extremely difficult. Team leader is about as high as you can get. Need to move on in order to make real money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make msdsonline conducive to keep good talent. Most that left really would have stayed but you couldn't keep up with their changing lifestyle as your team Gets older.
