Pros
Friendly people, down to earth environment.
Cons
Very tightly-held company, not a lot of room for upside career potential
Pros
The hours were really good
Cons
The pay was unsatisfactory for when you did excellent in your position
Advice to Senior Management
not the best of leaders. bosses do not stand up for what is right for thier employees at times
Pros
The benefits package was ok, and did include help for mental issues, and addiction. They did offer tuition reimbursement at the school of your choice. Flex work hours were very helpful.
Cons
Leadership team did what they wanted regardless of what the market told them. The company caters to 'family' for hiring rather than hiring based on merit. Anyone could get tuition reimbursement, but the majority were never allowed to apply their new found knowledge at work which made going to school a waste. Senior management was too far removed from the actual product and was misled by middle management on how things were actually progressing. The work atmosphere was very hostile with very angry people there. This atmosphere produced high stress and made the job painful.
Advice to Senior Management
Remember where this company came from. This family owned company was once a great place to work and was a fun atmosphere. The CEO himself would be on the floor daily to feel the pulse of the manufacturing environments. Now, the executive team is too far removed. Reward those that truly give their all day in and day out.
Pros
Union Wages and Benefits, Union Contact provided a pension which was vested after only five years of seniority, and a fair wage package with company paid benefits.
Cons
Company Closed Union Plants by buying controling interest in Shiloh Industries, Then sold Parma and Valley city Plants to Shiloh and had them closed,This way there was no bad headlines aimed at MTD Produsts,,,
Advice to Senior Management
Remember all the people you screwed when you closed those plants and remember they and their family's will never purchase anything your company is involved in produceing..
Pros
Positive environment. Good place to work.
Cons
Lack of oportunity for growth locally.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to build and foster a good environment.
Pros
The benefits are great (best I've ever had), there are some great people working there, and for the most part there seems to be an honest desire to provide an excellent product. I always enjoyed my work and felt as though I had lots of opportunity to learn and grow.
Cons
There seems to be a serious lack of communication and collaboration between departments. Product quality and parts distribution issues are ruining their credibility.
Advice to Senior Management
Review historical data and find out what sells... then keep selling it until you develop something better. Be proactive about R&D but stop sending defective equipment to dealers and blaming them for your own failure. Stick with a few good brands and differentiate them better.
Pros
Great people and the managers are all very friendly. As an intern if I needed any type of help all I needed to do was ask. you almost feel like you are working for a small company.
Cons
The market they are in is a little unstable but other than that I really do not have anything bad to say about the company.
Advice to Senior Management
I think they do a really nice job and I liked my time there. Like I said before everyone was very nice and you almost feel like you are working for a small company.
