I have been working at MWH Global full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to pursue work that interests you, whether it be local or in another office or geography.
The culture reflects the employee-owned status, in that employees are treated fairly and corporate decisions seem value-driven and not solely profit-driven.

    Cons

Work-life balance is poor. Long hours and travel are common.
    Medical benefits are so-so.
Current trend is toward homogenizing all offices toward more open-air concepts.
Paid time off includes sick time and vacation time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide separate leave for sick time.

    Pros

Excellent work atmosphere, smart co-workers, employee growth is a priority, people can grow into greater responsibility

    Cons

Below average benefits and pay is average, conservative nature of company inhibits growth, old fashioned company with too many layers between the top management and ground level employees (definitely not a flat organization)

I have been working at MWH Global full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

paid time off, pay, opportunities for recognition

    Cons

some management very degree-heavy and experience-light and like most other comments,,,,top heavy...too many chiefs with egos. If you don't possess an engineering degree you're looked at as a second class citizen with no chance or promotion to upper management. Human Resources is saturated with pro-business labor attorneys, don't bother trying to utilize the assistance they tout, if you have a problem they go into full CYA mode and look for ways to avoid what they see as possible litigation instead of trying to resolve the problem. You're forced to sit in on Gender Diversity meetings despite heavy workloads, giving you a false sense of security, but when HR is approached on related concerns, its a whole nother story. An exorbitant amount of policies and procedures that even if you are able to comply with, you stumble because of the redundancy in responsibilities with other employees. We have meetings about meetings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

stop treating loyal employees as contingent liabilities

    Pros

Not many I can think of.

    Cons

No compensation for additional hours worked. Expect employees to work 4.5 hrs every day regardless of how many hours they have already worked in a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensate your employees appropriately if you expect them to stick around.

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Broomfield, CO

I worked at MWH Global full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent compensation, benefits. Good people at the Broomfield headquarters. My role did offer the opportunity to work from home when needed, such as during inclement weather.

    Cons

A lack of a focused sales team and strategic focus on the Federal space. Economy quickly dragging down revenue - we didn't seem to have a plan for when the economy shifted other than to abandon ship.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The focus always seems to be to reduce costs instead of increasing revenue. Almost like a battle internally regarding costs instead of revenue. Listen to your staff.
