Advice to Senior Management
Need to provide encouragement to innovation
Pros
- State-of-the-art Facilities and resources
- Great communication between management
- end of month drinks
- excellent Macquarie parties (Christmas / EOY)
Cons
- Minimum wait for contractor to fulltime 1 year sometimes longer
- Work / Life Balance non-existent
- They use the name of "Macquarie Bank" to lure contractors with false promises of permanent placings after contractor roles.
- Once fulltime, expect to work no less than 9-10hrs a day.
- High expectations
- No support for career advancement
- High expectations not much recognition
Advice to Senior Management
Work / Life Balance is a big issue and should really be addressed. There are many workers doing 9-11hr shifts without any recognition or support and really needs to be look at to prevent burn-out.
Pros
Freedom, great management, good pay, best in class for almost all services, prestige brand, company does care about its staff but will put overall company safety first and lay people off if needed-but if you are laid off you are rewarded very well, which I was.
Cons
public perception (which is almost always wrong)
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you do
Pros
Excellent opportunities for advancement
Competitive pay
Great employee benefits program (discount gym memberships, restaurants etc)
Excellent training (initial and ongoing)
Great name to have on your resume
Great team oriented environment
Cons
The hours can be long
Very high expectations placed on employees
Very competitive environment (only a negative if you're lazy)
Advice to Senior Management
Macquarie is a very hard company to get into. The psychometric testing doesn't guarantee that an employee is a perfect fit for the organisation.
Pros
Macquarie is a big company and has many opportunities in different fields.
Cons
A lot of people working at Macquarie are corporate slaves that have no aspiration to have any sort of life outside the bank.
Advice to Senior Management
Less micromanaging, more supportive of staff moving to different business groups.
