    Pros

Great value proposition and some excellent individuals that do great work.
Pay above average however it is kind of like danger money that you get for having to compromise your ethics in having to work for sales managers that falsify results and pander to "favourites" (if you are female, mildly attractive and/or promiscuous or flirty then you will go far regardless of your results or abilities).

Great capabilities and seems to have pockets of excellence.

    Cons

Corporate psychopath team of upper sales managers that are more concerned with empire building and their social media profile on Facebook than their staff or the companies well being & performance.

CEO seems to have been sucked in by these charlatan and doesn't understand when he is being fleeced for around $500k a year by a sharp talking backstabbing sales "leader". All the smart talking in the world won't hide the poor financial results as evidenced.

There is a mass exodus of those either damaged beyond repair by the sales "leadership" or caught in the crossfire of their ire.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sack the current sales management hierarchy and promote some internals that are proven. Stop sticking head in sand to the issues and deal with them.

    Pros

Good people, technology and resources. Clever and can be fun in sales and marketing due to an excellent executive.

    Cons

An outdated CEO who needs to step aside. Misguided investment in the wrong areas. Depends on a hero like culture instead of investing in people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire a new CEO and the place will take off.

    Pros

Nice view from the office. Kitchens were ok.

    Cons

It's like working in a real life version of The Running Man. There's a culture of backstabbing. Weak people get walked over. People get fired for personal reasons.

Values are only valid if you have integrity. Macquarie Telecom harps on about it's values but has no integrity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No advice for upper management. They're broken and poisoned. There is no hope for them.

I worked at Macquarie Telecom full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Induction was fantastic. The companies toad shows are a lot of fun and you feel that your part of something very big and you passionately want to perform to your beat at what you do.

    Cons

Upper management is incapable of training, and all your transferable skills can not be used here. You may be smart and do what's logical but there is a very stern strict process that is very old fashioned when compared to how some other bigger telcos do things.

Helping customers outside the slow company processes is a big no no, so if you can solve an issue faster your not able too. If you know how to do something, it's best you don't bring it up due to the older management style.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your employees more freedom to bring their knowledge and expertise to the table. I am not someone who follows a silly process because that's what the company does. My advise is to adopt an agile approach when solving issues with customers, and ultimately you need to prioritise customer satisfaction rather than only doing what you think is right.

Old Boys Network that promotes incompetence

    Pros

There are some great people with real skill at this company and at times it has a great culture. They have a strong product suite and in general are good at what they do. Very good at looking after staff from a welfare point of view and pay is on the upside of the scale.

    Cons

Very much a CEO centric old boys club place to work which is ironic for a company that is so young. Unless you are part of the in crowd don't expect much. If you work in a regional office don't expect much either - in these circumstances individuals can rule (and ruin) the whole office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work from the bottom up and stop believing everything you are told by some of your managers. Stop looking at sales figures as your only way of judging performance and listen to employees

I have been working at Macquarie Telecom full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Macquarie pays relatively well for the markets that they are competing in. There are also some high quality engineering staff.

    Cons

management do not listen to their staff. Everyone in the organisation has a KPI that gets paid based on a Net Promoter score (NPS). Unfortunately management have no incentive to actually listen to staff on how to improve the NPS score. The policy likely comes from the top because it means the company owners (CEO) get more bonus/profit. When the company does not pay a bonus to staff because profit is low they still pay a dividend to share holders which really means they pay the CEO a bonus and nobody else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start listening to front line staff about what customers are saying. Fix the contract terms that customers have to sign up for. Using a telecom contract in hosting/cloud does not make sense. Having unhappy staff and unhappy customers is not going to improve your NPS.

    Pros

Views of Sydney from the office.

    Cons

Chasing and losing badly. Company makes bad strategic decisions poor long term growth and success. Losing business and losing customers hand over fist. The culture is not organic some good ideas and some good people but essentially this place is an old boys network and family owned company trying to compete with the big boys. Essentially Macquarie lacks at all levels - poor middle /high management, no trust, no clear vision. Incompetent and invests money into the wrong areas.

    Pros

Pay is decent for a telco, good value prop to market, pretty good products. Hired a CMO help the brand strategy.

    Cons

Brand impacts large deals, management team don't seem to care about employees. The business operates out of fear of the CEO. Too much negative pressure that comes from management. Seems like there is no long term strategic plans to keep employee's happy as most people are negative about working there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employ a new CEO. Stop bullying people. It could be an awesome place to work but the negative pressure of working from fear of the CEO makes it unbearable

Old boys network at its finest...

    I worked at Macquarie Telecom

    Pros

The company has some amazingly talented staff, who really do their utmost to make this company the success it has been previously

    Cons

Senior managers that are only interested in covering their own ass, and feathering the nest for themselves and their sycophants.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at the performance and achievements of your frontline staff, not the petty snarking of incompetent middle management when assessing the performance of your staff.

Also, start putting some money/focus on making the Melbourne office a pleasant place to work, not a dowdy "poor cousin" of the Sydney office

I worked at Macquarie Telecom full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Nice building, nice office and nice view.

Ok job to kick off career to gain experience.

    Cons

There is an over emphasis on process development, to the point where processes that do not require improvement are modified nonetheless . Everyone has to regularly improve one. Staff are even trained on how to make flow charts. Staff that don't impove their processes do not get a bonus. This has had an odd effect whereby process improvements take precedence over team mentality, often putting employees against each other.

The office revolves around the CEO much more than other places I have worked in. Small company/Proprietor mentality.

There is strong emphasis on existing customer and not enough energy and funds diverted towards getting new customers.

Salary packages include bonuses, when taking this in account salaries are very average.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Review the processes policies.
Nurture a more team oriented office.
Make salaries more competetive by not including bonuses into the package.
Some love needs to be diverted to your staff over the 100% to the shareholders.
