    I worked at Macy's full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Large corporation with unlimited possibilities.

    Cons

Sadly, the most disappointing work experience I have ever had. Hopefully it was limited to the two locations I worked in, Macy's Lenox & Macy's Perimeter, Atlanta, Ga. I even tried transferring to the 2nd location in hopes that management was not as corrupt there and that it was isolated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be insulted or threatened by great work ethic and talent. Embrace it and reap the benefits.

    Pros

Good community outreach, great way to start a career out of school

    Cons

Hard to progress into management if you do not go through sales. This includes being an HR Manager. Will not have a life during the holidays, even if you are in the office. Hope you like the color black!

I have been working at Macy's part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I work with some great coworkers, some that have become friends. Scheduling is very flexible, more flexible than when I started 6 years ago. You can input into the systems which days you prefer to work, which ones you don't. If you get scheduled for a day you can't work simply advertise it for someone else to pick up. Can easily and quickly move up in the company if you prove that you are a leader. I started as what is now known as a flex associate and I am now an area specialist for Polo Ralph Lauren as a part time associate. I have been asked if I wanted to move up more but of course I already have a full time job. Some managers are very understanding. If if weren't for my particular manager I would have quit a long time ago.
The discount of course and you have opportunities to get more discounts.

    Cons

Can be very stressful at times-you are constantly hounded about your stats, especially if you are attempting to open credit cards and add clientele (this is new and is a measured metric). My manager understands that he doesn't have to tell me several times but it took me forever to make him understand that I am well aware of what I am doing and what I am not.
Some workers there are nasty and very greedy when it comes to sales. Learn how to stand your ground
During the holidays you practically give up your work/life balance here so if that doesn't sound good to you don't work here
If you are part time associate you are EXPECTED and mostly REQUIRED to be available every Friday Saturday and Sunday. If you are a seasonal associate and tell a manager you can't work a weekend they will release you .I have seen this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase starting pay-work is stressful for what you start people working at.
Consider something else besides having to push a credit card. I have seen associates literally lose their minds because they can't open credit cards.

    Pros
