ConsManagement is often less educated than you are but speak down to you

Advice to Senior ManagementThe competition between full time, part time, and flex employees needs to be corrected. It gets cut throat real fast when the full times need to make their goals

No loyalty or appreciation

Sales Support (Former Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I worked at Macy's part-time for more than a year

ProsFriendly co-workers. A store discount.

ConsNo loyalty to seasonal staff. (Even the seasonal staff that has worked multiple Christmas seasons.) No communication between too many managers. Executive office staff has no idea what the sales floor managers are doing. The interview process is very unprofessional.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe professional. Appreciate the hard work everyone does, even seasonal help. If you have a manager tell an employee "welcome... you are now permanent" - mean it. If you interview a candidate for a position, don't tell them "I have 10 more interviews" over the next week and then send that same candidate a standard e-mail in less than two days saying thanks but no thanks. Don't be so cold.

Overlook valuable people, very political

Wedding & Gift Registry Consultant (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at Macy's part-time for more than 3 years

Proshuge corporate company with many opportunities, numerous locations, associates of like kind. Associates looking to make a difference and contribute. Serious about their positions.

Consvery political, overlook valuable talent, not flexible, only numbers driven, not open to new approaches, encourages associates to come to work sick because of point system, looks down on anything not in a management level

Advice to Senior ManagementBe open to suggestions and listen to the associates.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
