Pros
Discounts were good, though had to wait a while to use them
Cons
Bad hours / short term notice
Pros
The people you work with. Most came from other companies prior to Macy's purchasing them. The employees are very dedicated.
Cons
The Hours expected to work. Many long term employees feel unappreciated. Feel that company only looks at what the employee can do for them, not what they can do for the employee.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay more attention to how senior management treats direct reports. Learn to praise in public, punish in private. Many unhappy leaders in all divisions.
Pros
Good if you want a bit of extra holiday pay.
Cons
You get a sales goal every day, so it gets competitive with ringing up customers. The other sales associates acted like they were in high school - catty! I was glad to quit.
Advice to Senior Management
Maybe listen to your people!
Pros
The discount at Macy's and Bloomingdales is nice as well as being around fashion.
Cons
Hours, customers, management, pay, dresscode, being at a large corporation
Pros
Flexible hours
Awesome managers
Excellent training
Competitive salary
Cons
there are night and weekend shifts
Pros
Very convenient attendance policy. You earn points by not missing days and you can use them whenever you need to.
Cons
One Day sales are HECTIC. You will be running all over and customers will keep you busy. GO BACKS are the worst!
Pros
Career Advancement is a top priority. Value employee contributions. Flexible work schedule. Top retail employer. Great place to work. May vary by location.
Cons
Retail hours. Late nights, Black Friday craziness. Typical of all retail environment. If you like retail it's a great place to work.
Pros
Macys worked around school schedule well.
Cons
Macys management put little time or effort into training employees or even assisting when something out of the ordinary came up. As someone with a great deal of previous retail experience, I was more than capable of handling most issues but at times, some assistance was needed. Management can't condemn employees if they don't take the time to train them.
Advice to Senior Management
Train your employees. Put customers first - ALWAYS.
Pros
Pay was better than some office jobs I've worked in. Manager was very appreciative of all my hard work. Overtime was offered during the holidays. Very active job.
Cons
Its retail. No downtime. Always on the go. If in a mall you feel like you are stuck in a dungeon. Retail in general is nuts between the hours, no benefits, and no growth opportunities. Discount stinks and you have to have a macys CC or buy a prepaid card to get discount.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep the visual shop more organized.
Pros
You're able to manage your schedule online which allows you to pick up or give away hours very easily.
Cons
Macy's seems to be more concerned with sales than customer care which makes it hard.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to get corporate to allow for more hours so that Macy's doesnt look like ROSS.
