Former Employee – worked at Macy's full-time for more than a year
Pros – Working at a store that gives you discount for purchased.
Cons – No health insurance. No vacation time. Low salary. No qualify managers in store.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire personnel with qualifications, increase your salary because it is impossible that someone can work 8 hrs for $8/ hrs.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at Macy's part-time for less than a year
Pros – It's a great job! I like working at Macy's. Great Coworkers, great management.
Cons – - I was promised base plus commission and I actually got draw vs commission
- My macy's always schedules me, one hour away from qualifying for full-time; so I work the hrs but don't get the benefits
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Pros – -The staff is so helpful to new employees
-The managers are encouraging
-there are many opportunities for growth
Cons – I don't really have any cons for my location. It was a fun experience and I am applying for a different location now ( it was seasonal). If you enjoy fast paced jobs and working with customers on a daily basis, this is the job for you!

Current Employee – been working at Macy's full-time for more than a year
Pros – Great vacation
Decent flexibility and work/life balance February-September
Cons – Politics - Sales managers do not work as a team but instead compete
Compensation increase is merit based, but the measure of success can be outside of sales manager's control and furthers the competition v team work.
No cost of living increase
No work/life balance October-January
Not enough authority to do my job: no control over direct report's pay or schedule
Often have to work extra hours with little notice
Must be very patient for growth opportunities
Not must chance for salary increases, only yearly performance review.
Advice to Senior Management – Increase in compensation should have an automatic cost of living included, and merit based more on personality and talent development than $ results to plan.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
