Pros
Macy's internship is a really good program. The pay is good, and it offers a great insight into what its like to work at Macy's. For what I saw, there was great-work life balance, and my co-workers were great.
Cons
Its not a very exciting place to work in design. For a design/fashion company, its very corporate. There wasn't much creativity or innovation involved with "designing" new products either. The entire assortment was basically determined by numbers, and all the new styles were knockoffs.
Discount was ok at 20%
Advice to Senior Management
From the private brand that I worked for, I definitely felt that the communication between and design/product & buyer needs to be improved. Macy's should also be more open to taking risks with new designs.
Pros
Discounts
Teamwork
Nice Management
Flexible attire, as long as it's 90% black... (do not have uniforms)
Household Name
Cons
They do not like to hire full time and the scheduling is a disaster. They schedule people for 3 hours a day!
Pros
Nice environment, flexible schedule, customer service experience.
Cons
Need to work on weekends.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep the sales associates motivated.
Pros
Alot of hours and good discount. Fun atmospere to work in. Close to home and always something to do so the hours go fast.
Cons
The employees were not all friendly. The managers barely gave promotions and rude at times. The pay was not that good
Advice to Senior Management
keep a smile on your face at all times not just when a customer is looking.
Pros
* job security
* Down to earth, friendly company culture
Cons
* Macys cards goals
* Operations issues
Pros
Ability to change focus - from merchant, marketing, stores, and product development
Ability to learn, exposed to different businesses.
Family oriented, stable company.
Cons
Promotions are not merit based. It becomes about your personal connection with your VP, not your immediate supervisor. The health insurance coverage should be greater considering the size of the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Be fair!!
Pros
Good commission, fun coworkers, fun events and staff. Good pay and benefits for the most part. Comparable with most other employers.
Cons
Always pushing credit, management not knowledgeable, not a lot of room to move up with company, need different scheduling opportunities.
Advice to Senior Management
Always pushing credit, management not knowledgeable, not a lot of room to move up with company, need different scheduling opportunities. Stop worrying so much about credit cards and treat your employees with more respect.
Pros
fairly easy job, the system creates schedule giving employees the opportunity to swap. 20% discount
Cons
They have daily sales goals without commission, you have to stand on your feet all day, they basically set it up where the employee's are competing with each other simply to ring customers up. You only get 7.40/hr and they barely give you enough hours to matter
Advice to Senior Management
Stop making your employees harrass customers, just let them provide good customer service
Pros

Cons
