Pros
Macy's treats it's employees fairly. The pay is higher in comparison to it's competitors and the managers speak to the employees with respect.
Cons
The downside to Macy's is the new online employee in-site. Macy's wants you to set up your schedule online and communicate with other employees via this website to switch, "advertise", or pick up new shifts. This works to some extent but it does not work when you need of for special events such as holidays or vacations. The managers like to take a hands off approach when it comes to schedules and work hours.
Advice to Senior Management
The Macy's I work at currently has mostly all new managers. They are doing a great job, however, they are not very personable and understanding. When someone goes to school full time, and works 2 full time jobs, they need schedules to work out around each other. Macy's likes their associates to have as many fully open days as possible and with some associates that just cannot happen. Be understanding and helpful. Associates who want more hours are getting less and associates that need less hours, you are giving them more.
Pros
Some job growth, meet many different people.
Cons
Weekends working, they are always pushing to open new credit accounts.
Advice to Senior Management
Employees need to be compensated.
Pros
Really weren't any Pro's for an experienced LPM, great starting ground for an entry level individual looking for Loss Prevention experience.
Cons
No communication, work/life balance (on call 24/7), no partnerships, lots of unprofessionalism from upper management, no training, promotions based on longevity with the company, etc.
Advice to Senior Management
None, that's what they get paid for, to figure out how to keep a company stable and to retain talent.
Pros
The employees were friendly when they weren't cut throat about credit and sales numbers.
Cons
Very centered around opening credit cards with outrageous fees. Proposed moral dilemma.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward for performance other than credit.
Pros
Employee discount is awsome, and people work there are very nice and freindly. I didn't have any difficulty to join them as a team member. Also, nice and safe work environment
Cons
The way they train employees is very poor, and they just put you on the floor and expect to figure out things by yourself.
Pros
-pays well
-good benefits, and a lot of paid time off
- upper managers very nice and understanding
Cons
-days can run long, you never get out on time and often have to go in early to complete tasks
-training for management is non existent and no one ever has time to show you how to do anything
-new associates are thrown on to the sales floor with barely any knowledge on how to use register, approach customers, and work efficiently
-many difficult customers
Advice to Senior Management
better training and developing needed.
Pros
The other associates were friendly and respectful
Cons
A bit competitive and hectic during the holidays, which is, more or less, to be expected
Pros
Awesome rewards and discounts
Opportunities to grow and learn
friendly co workers and atmosphere
you will do fine as long as you do your job right, no one can complain about you
Opportunities to be promoted
get to wear black (lol)
Cons
People in management can be unfair at times
it can get hectic and confusing
very tiring (but rewarding)
customers can be a pain
has to be solid colored black
Advice to Senior Management
Come up with a better system of accountability, people tend to be really selfish with their time and efforts therefore everyone else under suffers. Does not set a positive example to potential employees.
Pros
Its okay if you don't have any retail experience...
Cons
You feel like you do a lot of work for so less...
Pros
great team , good organisation, nice benefits
Cons
Maybe more attention with the shoplifting..
Advice to Senior Management
Go, go Macy's!
