Pros
Their new scheduling system is computer generated; which makes it fair and unbiased. Also, their cash registers are more modern than other department stores.
Cons
From the time I was hired, nothing has been easy. I was hired as a beauty advisor, however it took two long months before anyone from the cosmetics line called me for an interview. That should have handled when I hired. I have had uniform issues, training issues, and gratis issues that have been handled without urgency. NO ONE EVER KNOWS ANYTHING! I'm floored by the level of unprofessionalism.

Pros
Macy's provides good opportunities for internal advancement.
Cons
Macy's is a very large company with many employees.
Pros
the g.m. is great and soon you can schedule yourself in how you would like
Cons
Dept. managers can be full of themselves and to lazy to show you what you need. Then there is the otherside where a manager can be extremely helpful.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to realize that the only way to move up in a company is to do the dept. hours. Vendors are quicker to hire you if you have worked in a dept. store.
Pros
Management is supportive and provides opportunities for career advancement. Competitive pay and benefits. Company provides good training for its employees.
Cons
Some supervisors could show a little more respect towards sales associates. Sometimes there is a lack of communication between management and sales staff.
Advice to Senior Management
Management should improve communication between levels and let sales associates know what is going on within the company. Advise supervisors on how to deal with sales associates effectively.
Pros
Good employee discount/incentives
keep up with latest fashions
Cons
sometimes long work hours
standing most of the day
no significant opportunities for advancement
Advice to Senior Management
Bettter pay! Develop ways for employees to progress in the company. Tuition Assistance would be good too!
Pros
Flexible work hours, ability to choose shifts, great discounts
Cons
Higher hourly pay or higher commission
Advice to Senior Management
A little more organization needs to be done in conducting new employee training
Pros
Great place to work and engage with new people. Great deal of multi-tasking as a bridal consultant and have to manage administrative duties with constant interruption from customers as sales are still expected.
Cons
Easy burn out due to scheduling. If youre passionate about something such as makeup or fashion and need a start this is a great place to do so, if you arent doing much else (such as school) or have children.
Pros
Plenty of training-they want you to succeed. Empowerment in your position-you are running the business for your group of stores.
Cons
Could use additional help (ie analysts), travel with no company car, being remote can prove a challenge in regards to communicating
Advice to Senior Management
Strongly consider a second level (like an analyst) for the district planners. There is always a lot to do and travel takes away from our work week. To truly run a good business, it would be great to have help.
Pros
every one loves a parade
Cons
needs to clean up their stores
Advice to Senior Management
look at the leadership program and reevaluate how you promote
