Pros
At macys there is a flexible schedule policy which is very convient for studnets who would like a part time job.
Cons
At this point in time, since I've been only working Macy's for a few months I have no complaints with Macy's East.
Pros
Its the largest retail in the world so it that looks great on your resume.
Cons
long hours and pay can be better
Pros
20% discount
Alot of different customers
Cons
Sell sell sell, Meet your daily sales goal
Advice to Senior Management
Lay back some
Pros
Leader in the dept store sector. Picked up market share, improved marketing, localization, omnichannel and overall comp store sales growth.
Cons
Competitive environment, physical plant could be better, leadership of private brands has improved but still sawtooth performance vs. comparable market vendors.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees, reconsider forced rankings, more transparency overall. Use win-win model vs. "healthy competition". Still a lot of silos, getting better though.
Pros
Great Employees, nice assortment of clothing, good benefits, and hours are good for support team.
Cons
Low pay for the amount of work expected, Managers aren't helpful most of the time, too many difficult customers, not enough help to clean the floor and fitting rooms, and it's hard to work your way up in the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Practice what you preach to the associates.
Pros
It's an easy job, you can love it if you love retail.
Cons
pay sucks, getting raises are tough.
Pros
- easy to move up quickly
- overtime
- GREAT family culture
- HR is amazing
- you can easily move throughout divisions at any level
Cons
- OLD, slow, OUTDATED systems which make the doing actual work a slow and tedious process
- OLD buying practices
- Too many metrics
- SpeedToMarket has ruined product development. Zero creativity.
Advice to Senior Management
Upgrade systems and invest in PLM - you are WAY behind on the technology front. It takes 20 years and three thousand codes to just pull a sales report.
Pros
Co-workers are wonderful and helpful. Hours aren't too bad and customers are nice to work with too.
Cons
Upper management are far removed from the work that is done by lower rung associates. Forgetful of what is needed to have a work/life balance and expectations are too high for little reward or benefit from the work that is done.
Advice to Senior Management
Try working in the associates shoes before changing polices and procedures before implementing.
Pros
The 20% employee discount on most things, can be combined with coupons.
Cons
Terrible Human Resource department, extremely poor management, management is on an ego trip, low pay, terrible benefits, technology is from 1985, low morale, overall bad communication.
Advice to Senior Management
Get off your high horse and actually manage people. Have a holiday party, everyone resents you for taking it away then having a meeting once a year to tell us how much money we are making (none of us see it)
Pros
Setting your own goals and achieving them will bring you opportunities. You must be a self starter and not rely on anyone else.
Cons
Salary is not competitive with other companies. Too much to do and not enough people to get the job done.
Advice to Senior Management
Lead by EXAMPLE. I saw too many colleagues pointing their finger and not enough taking action.
